OT Facebook question: Have I been "unfriended"?

So, I sat down at FB last night and was going to message a friend about some things for church. I open my "friends" window and he's not there.

So I go the search feature, search for him, find him, and it appears he's not my friend. I KNOW he was my friend b/c he posted ALL the time! So I sent him a friend request.

Did he unfriend me? If other people unfriend you, does it take them off your list?

Yes, that means you were "unfriended." FB does not notify you if someone deletes you as a friend. If you know for sure you were originally friends and now are not, you were deleted from this person's list.

sometimes, you can be unfriended by accident. I have had friends that have dissappeared and neither of us deleted each other. It was amusing because we both noticed and messaged each other.

It might also mean that your friend has suspended their account for some reason. That has happened to me - a friend of mine has decided to go off the radar, and her name and all her notes disappeared from my wall, but when she reactivated her account, they all came back.

I think if that happened the friend wouldn't of showed up in the search.

my entire facebook account has been down for 3 days now.
I keep getting the "down due to maintenance" message...
but it's only supposed to last a few hours, not 3 days...
facebook hasn't responded to any of my messages to them..

so i don't know how i appear to people...friends, unfriends, lost...

it's very upsetting...but given that facebook is free, what recourse does one have?
you get what you pay for, i guess..
