We are invited to an evening wedding on Nov. 29th at 6pm and I have no clue what to put on myself or my family for this event. I have never attended a fall wedding or an evening wedding so I cannot throw on the sundresses and be done with it.

Can someone guide me as I obviously have no fall fashion sense...HAHA I am a stay at home mom so my wardrobe consists of jeans, sweatshirts and t-shirts in the fall...:rotfl:

I am seriously HOPING that slacks are an option for me because I was in an accident last year that has left a huge scar on my leg that I would prefer to not have to talk about everytime someone sees it..:scared:

I would wear black slacks and a really dressy top or sweater.

I don't do dresses though- nor do I worry about whether or not my clothes are OK or what "everyone" else will be wearing. I rarely go any where that black slacks with a dressy top or jacket wouldn't be fine.

IMO-Scar and all, I would wear a skirt/dress. Men in a suit and children in dress clothes. It's a wedding. A celebration!

I would wear a dress. That being said - we went to a fall wedding a couple weeks ago and some people were dressed very casual, others dressy. The same for our December eve wedding - although that was 15 years ago.

I agree that a dress or skirt is more appropriate. Wear dark coloured hosiery to cover your legs. I always feel dressier in a skirt.

You can wear a "dressy" pantsuit or try to find a longer skirt or dress that will cover your gouge.

Hi Well we live in New Jersey and weddings are just not what they use to be! You would go out and by the best of the best, but not any more! I think the right slacks would be very approiate! The secret is accesories!!! Hair and makeup and a great bag. put this all together and no one will notice you have slacks on trust me! Your husband a suit or slacks and a sport jacket and a tie. I think for the children age approiate.I went to a wedding in May and did not wear stockings I was just fine and it was a saturday night wedding.Just keep in mind the location the setting and the couple celebrating this amazing day!Is it family, friends, collegues,a mix of everything? Just keep your mind open to what makes you comfortable because you still have to be amom that night!! I hope you all have an awesome time let me know how it went! Enjoy!!! Love 3 kids!:flower3:

I'm also attending a fall wedding (Nov 28) and I will be wearing a cocktail style dress (length appropriate of course). The dress code for weddings in not really as limited as it used to be. A nice pair of black pants and dressy top would be very appropriate. However, if you want to try out a dress or skirt there is nothing wrong with wearing dark hose or opaque tights. I was planning to wear a pair of woven tights because I am ALWAYS cold! Wear something that makes you feel attractive AND comfortable.

I was talking to my best friend about this and she has a longer slinky all black dress and she has a pink and black polka dotted dress that has a black cardigan sweater that I am gonna try on. (good to have friends the same size as you..lol) DH will be the problem...he will NOT do a suit so we may have to go the sport coat route. He normally wears nice dress pants a long sleeve button down shirt and tie. He HATES to dress up...his method of dressing up are his Carhartt overalls...lol

Thanks a bunch!!! I will let you know what I decide...I know if I choose the all black dress he will give me grief because he will then say we are not going to a funeral..lol

COMPLICATEDPINK...I have just finished Twilight..I am going to buy New Moon today..cannot wait for the movie!!!

Ah! Be careful with those books!! They become an obsession, my poor boyfriend had to put up with me reading the first three books on our beach vacation. I finished new moon in 18 hours...yikes. Hopefully, Stephanie Meyer will finish Midnight Sun so I can get over the withdrawl!

It is a 6pm wedding. Dress or very dressy black pants and dressy top. Men need a jacket, better yet, a suit.

Have you read THE HOST yet? MY friend gave me that one to read and I was talking my little sister about it and she was like NOOOOO you have to read the Twilight series first, so I have put off The Host until I finish these. I don't know about you but I have this hidden love for some Edward Cullen.. I hope he plays the part in the movie as well as they write it in the book.

Back to the reason for this topic......My Best Friend let me borrow a very classy sleeveless black cocktail dress that I LOVE!!!! I am gonna go find shoes today that I can wear with some black hose. DH will not wear a suit so he is gonna wear khaki colored slacks, LS shirt and tie and a jacket. I think we have decided to leave the kids with their grandparents because their normal bedtime is 8pm and there is no way the reception will be over by then. I talked to the groom last night and he was just thrilled we were getting to come and said we could show up in our underwear if we wanted as long as we were there....HAHAHAHA That would be an eye sore because let me just say after 2 large kids and almost 14 years of good cooking these bodies ain't what they used to be...:lmao:

No I haven't read The Host yet but I've only heard rave reviews about it! If I ever get a break in my school schedule that one is next on my list (after rereading Breaking Dawn. I need to go back and get all the details!) I'm sosososo excited about the movie, I really hope they continue to make movies for the whole series! Have fun at the wedding and I'm sure you'll look great!
