:offtopic: How many of you really close the door when you go to the bathroom? :rotfl2:

I'm just curious after a little incident today. We normally just leave the door open, the main bathroom is pretty out of the way from the living area and it's also quite large. The only time I really close it is when I'm dealing with my "female issues". Anyway, today my DS had the neighbor boy over to play video games for a little while. He's quiet and over pretty often, so I guess forgot that he was here. So I went to the bathroom, leaving the door open. Just as I'm flushing, pulling my underwear up, who starts to walk in ready to go to the bathroom but our neighbor! Luckily I don't think the kid saw anything, he's only eleven anyway, but it just got me a but worried what he might tell his parents.

Oh hunny, I do it all the time (not flashing others) My kids tend to walk in and say the craziest things. One would think I would learn by now, but those pesky kids know how to turn the handle. I must admit though, you really don't think of closing the door if your in your own home. Its a comfort thing I think. Just like when I get home from work, I sit on the potty and disrobe as I am relieving myself. I also leave my clothes right there and boy does it get my husband :furious: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I am glad to see I have others out there like me:lovestruc

I'll admit it too -- most of the time I don't close it either. But now that DS6 is getting older, I'm starting to close it more. He's kinda obsessed w/ my chest lately too

Doesn't matter if I close the door b/c DD has life's most important questions only during times I'm in the bathroom.

I think it's payback from when I was a kid.

Regarding if the neighbor boy saw anything and tells his parents, well, I guess you'll know pretty soon. They may or may not say anything to you. He may not say anything to his parents for fear of not being allowed over to that 'crazy lady's house'.

If the parents do say something, just apologize and fess up to having had the door ajar and assure them that it was not intentional and that you will be more vigilant in the future to ensure the door is fully latched.

Do you have a dog/cat? Maybe they pushed the door open? Or it could have been Stitch! That Stitch is just everywhere!

I have two older boys (12 and 9). We always close the door and encourage them to do the same. They're old enough that they need to maintain privacy while in the bathroom. And they're old enough that I don't want them walking in on me when I'm in there. I just think some things are very personal and kids should be taught to respect themselves and others by keeping those things personal.

We are a closed door family when it comes to bathroom time. We've taught my 4 year old to close the door when he's using the bathroom, my husband closes and I close and lock because I'm tired of being deposed while I'm sitting there. Both my husband and I grew up in a house where toilet business was your own business and nobody needs to see, smell, or hear what you're up to. :lmao:

It's too bad I don't because that's a great idea! :rotfl:

I'm not too concerned about it, looking back on it is pretty funny, but I still do hope that he doesn't tell his parents. I told him it was just an accident, it seemed like he didn't think it was that big of a deal, I can't imagine them not letting him over again. :worried:

I close the door and it does not matter, my DD just barges in. But when she is in there it is closed and the world will end if you walk in on her. I am working on teaching her that when I am in the bathroom for the 30seconds I am in there I need a little privacy, just like her. She is getting better. I would not worry like the OP said maybe it just "opened" on it's own or an animal did it, chances are they did not see anything.

Don't worry. IF he did see anything, he's eleven. I am sure he won't tell his parents, and the worst that could happen is he develops a crush on you!!! :rotfl2: Just kidding. A little.

I can't remember the last time I was in the bathroom by myself, it's usually me, Dd, the dog and a few cats. Even before DD the dog would open the door and get in the shower before I realized what was happening. One of the cats can open doors, so I just have given up.

there is no point of closing the door. I must ALWAYS have company with me when I go to the bathroom. At least that's what the kids and cats think. At least the dog leaves me alone.

50/50 for me; half the time I do when I'm on my "ladies" so I keep the door closed and the other half of the time I leave it open. I'm so quick that I'm in and out in flash.

T.

Sorry, but this is strictly forbidden in my house. It's the only place I can get any peace, although my yellow Lab has a tendancy to come it and my DD12 like to park herself outside door and hold conversations with me! :rotfl2: Funny how once I'm out, she doesn't need to talk to me. :confused3 Anyway, as long as someone is in the bathroom, we do not enter, unless specifically asked to. Call me shy, but I don't want witnesses to my bodily functions! :lmao:

We are an open door household...all doors remain open unless times get tough I guess. :rotfl: I will shut the door if others are in the house though. Hopefully they don't open!!!

I always leave the door open. Funny story ... when we moved into our new home, the bathroom is right off the living room. My husband's friend was over watching a football game when my youngest was first born. We're pretty close. Well, nature called and I was pretty sleep deprived and didn't think about our friend visiting and went in while talking to him and started to take my pants down without even thinking. :lmao: I was midsentence when I realized my faux pas!

I try to close the door now, unless it's just me and my youngest. And if I forget, my oldest will come over and close it for my "privacy".

Ummm, I have two kids under 3 and two dogs... if I close the door, all hell will break loose! I can't remember the last time I was able to pee in private! Good lord, I hope someday I can carry out my business in private again!

Me, too.

I hardly ever close the door either, DH does if DD is up and may catch him in the act he doesn't want her to see anything unusual that might spark a bunch of questions. DD doesn't have any idea that she should close the door, after all how would I hear her when she yells "MOM I'm finished" if the door was shut. My niece on the other hand who isn't quite 4 runs in the bathroom and shuts and locks the door which I find quite odd. I would not be at all happy with DD if she locked me out of any door in the house.

We are an open door household and it doesn't bother me one bit. In fact I was just watching the Pull-ups potty training DVD and they talk about how good an "open-door" policy is when your kids are potty training.

We do close the door when company is over though. We don't want to (intentionally) be exhibitionists for our cousins and friends. :rotfl:

Most of the time when I'm in the bathroom I shut and lock the door. Other times I shut and leave it unlock. I get weird looks when my mom comes in to ask me a question or grab something and I have a laptop on my lap. Yes I take it in the bathroom with me and it stays clean.

I dont go anywhere near the door when my dads in the bathroom but if my mom is i'll go in if the door is open or shut and talk to her while I'm doing my hair or whatever. Come on it's my mom, she made me so I'm entitled to talk to her while shes on the potty. haha
