OT--Easiest way to drive from Naples

If anyone knows the highways down there====what is the easiest route, and how many tolls, etc., are involved in driving from orlando to naples florida and back to orlando------looking to find out if there are any better times to be on any given highways due to rush hours etc. My best guesstimate was about a 3 hr trek, and went up major highways.......any one with any florida know-how would be very appreciated!!!

You're best route is going to be I-4 to I-75. There won't be any tolls if you're coming from WDW. If you're coming from the Orlando airport, they're may be some depending on how you get onto I-4.

As far as traffic goes, I-4 can be pretty congested anytime during the day in the Orlando area, so it will be hit or miss. The I-4/I-75 interchange can be congested between 7:30am-8:30am and 4:30pm-6pm ish, depending on how many accidents happen. People here drive either really really fast or really really slow.....and they don't mix well on the interstates. But I'd say your 3 hour estimate is a good one.

I can't remember the route numbers but in February 2007 I drove from Orlando to Naples and back and I think it did take around 3 1/2 hours driving down - but I have my mother who has to stop to stretch pretty often with me. It was a nice drive. Naples was nice - great beaches.

I agree that I-4 to I-75 is the easiest way to go. Given that traffic can be a nightmare on I-4, I would allow 3.5-4 hours for the drive, depending on where in Naples you are heading.

Thanks everyone------hopefully we'll be able to time it around rush hours-------we are going from orlando to naples tues pm------hoping to get a good day at disney first, my husband likes driving, so I am hoping to leave after 8 pm------I am assuming the roads will be good then????

I finally got maps------is I-17 a local road with lights or a highway------it seem to cut the distance better than going up the coast.........anybody???

we live just north of Naples. We have tried several routes. I4 to I75 is probably the best. The route taking I17 does save some miles, but not any time. when you take that you need to take the Polk Toll road, and it is extremely expensive. Then you have to jog around in a small town to find the route 17 again. WE have also taken 27south to Palmdale and 29 over to 80, then 80 to I75. All of the routes end up taking the same amount of time. We have never made it in 3 hours either, and Naples is about 15 miles south of us. It will be faster at the time you mentioned.
