Does anyone know how to get dry erase marker out of a cotton t-shirt? :confused3 DH got a small dry erase marker stain on a brand new t-shirt! :sad2: I haven't tried anything yet, this happened last night! The shirt is dark yellow, I'm hoping not to remove the color! :sad2: TIA

You can try Spot Shot. My DD loves to play with Dry Erase markers and I found out the hard way that they are worse than Sharpies to get out. I ended up buying her the washable ones from Crayola after she ruined her clothes.

Not what you want to hear but I tried EVERYTHING when me niece for some reason marked on my DS's new VERY expensive Air Jordan basketball jersey. NOTHING worked. Wonder what they put in those things????

I have used oxy clean when my kids have gotten marker stains on clothes. I make a paste with water and leave it on the shirt until it literally hardens. After I peel off the paste I usually scrub it again with a toothbrush and more oxy clean... so far I've been lucky and we have been able to remove all stains.

Good luck! :sunny:

I know hair spray works on ink though I hjaven't had to use it on dry erase markers--yet! :rotfl: Saturate the spot with hairspray , rinse with water and repeat if necessary then was as normal. I also like Biz- a color safe bleach. If we have a tough stain I usually mix a bucket of water with a scoop of Biz (powder has worked better than liquid for me) and let it soak before washing. Good luck!

DS2 got dry erase ink all over a brand new shirt on Christmas day and nothing took the stain out. After washing it about 20 times, the stains are fading, but they are still very noticable. I second the idea of buying washable dry erase markers. We got ours at Walmart- they are Miracle brand by Rose Art. No more stains since we switched!

Thank you! I still haven't tried anything. The shirt is just sitting here waiting for me. I have the wawshable markers at home. DH was playing darts and I don't think the dart league cares about those of us trying to wash these darn stains!

I have used a combination of white vinegar and water to get paint and marker out of DD's clothes. Also milk takes pen ink out of fabric like magic, though I have never tried it on marker ink. Good luck getting the stain out.

Try the Crayola site for help on stains with markers, crayons etc.
Crayola Stain Guide

For dry erase on clothing they say:
How to remove Crayola Dry-Erase Markers from clothing or fabrics:
Materials

Rubbing alcohol
Bleach for colored clothing (Clorox 2® or Biz®)
Cotton balls
Laundry detergent
Paper towels
Procedure
Rinse stain from fabric with cold water until no more color is being removed. Place fabric on paper towels and saturate with rubbing alcohol using a cotton ball to blot the stain. Replace the paper towels as often as needed. Wash in hot water with laundry detergent and bleach for colored clothing and rinse in warm water.
