Help! DD lost her first tooth, I have the $ and a whistle (she said the TF brings a whistle to kids because they can no longer whistle without teeth:rolleyes1 ) but now I need to know -- do I write a letter from the TF?

I did sometimes. The first time congratulating them and telling them how I had been waiting to come see them. And I left notes reminding them to brush their teeth.
Just watch the handwritting, if you have a smart little cookie they'll notice how it looks like your handwritting even if you try to disguise. I typed mine with a pretty font.

I never did but then my youngest is the total princess loving child and she left the TF a note and made her a picture. So I couldnt NOT leave something. And she kept the letter like it was gold! :)

No, never. Too much stress. It is stressful enough trying to get the tooth out and the money in. Our tooth fairy ahs even forgotten to come sometimes!

YEs the tooth fairy has always left a note when they have lost their first tooth. I went online to find a nice note and printed it up. IT was left with the money the tooth fairy left.

I wrote Tooth Fairy notes. My DDs assumed that fairies were small, so I made the note very tiny (I can write really small). DD's didn't think humans could (or would) write that small, so it must have been from the TF.

You are a tooth fairy after my own heart! Our tooth fairy has been known to keep the child busy before bed so that they forget to put the tooth under that night if the tooth fairy isn't prepared to leave anything that night (not getting a $20 bill at my house!) My son actually forgot about a tooth for about a month once because after the first night it is easy to forget and we found it about a month later and put it under the pillow. So no note-why does every holiday event, vacation, any more have to be "added" to? Why isn't it special enough as it is.

I found a tiny gift card with a picture of a fairy. I wrote a note to DD in teeny tiny fancy handwriting with a silver pen. I also left a sprinkle of pixie dust.

Then DD wanted to leave a note thanking the Tooth Fairy...! ;)

My DD is scared to pull her teeth, she literally lets them fall out by themselves and won't touch them when they are loose. After the first couple teeth the Tooth Fairy left her notes telling her that she wouldn't pay for teeth if they were too old, she needs fresh teeth.:rotfl2: It helped a little bit, my DD did wiggle them a little more after that.

No notes here...we had Tooth Fairy (pink) glitter...we would sprinkle it on her pillow along with the $1 bill...:wizard:

We left a note once -- when DS was not being very good about brushing. The TF sent a warning letter. (PrintShop has a ToothFairy signature).

I'm also guilty about forgetting. But, I covered. I took the money and threw it under his bed. Since, it is usually a mess. I blamed him. ;)

At our house, the TF leaves the gold $1 coins. It makes it special.

The tooth fairy was never planning to write until child #1 wrote to the tooth fairy. I thought it was a one time deal. Two weeks later, tooth #2 fell out, and in Child #1's letter to the tooth fairy, she asked her name...

Thus... Dentina was born (it was late, I was tired and it was all I could think of at the time after scrounging for cash.) Dentina corresponded with the toothless in my house for many years. Once when I only had 2 dollars in the house, Dentina informed child #2 that her tooth had a cavity in it and her cash was reduced accordingly. Sneaky, I know...

and they treasure it more than the $. I printed it up on the computer, and then every time it is ready to go and I just alter the words a bit. My DD also received a TF book the first time, (since I found it on clearance.)

Then, last Sunday night my 5 year old son knocked out his front tooth. (It wasn't wiggly..) The TF was not at all prepared for this.. but he did receive a note too, and a few crumpled dollar bills to spend at the $ store (since he remembered his sister got a gift the first time.)

Since teeth usually start coming out around 5-6 and they are just learning to read, I think it is a great way to motivate reading. They make wonderful keepsakes.

My other question is.. what do you do with all these old teeth? Anyone keep them?

Thanks for the fun stories - I went overboard, I know I did, but I couldn't help it.

I typed a note on the computer with a toothfairy image an used a cool font. DD was so impressed that the image wasn't a sticker ;) Then, I gave her the whistle, and $5 singles AND a TF coloring page I found online.

Of course, if she doesn't get all that next time my answer will be "it must have been because it was your first tooth."

Love the pixie dust ideas.

I did keep her tooth, put it in a baggie with her intials and the date of the tooth #1 -- we'll see if we keep it up. My parents still have mine LOL

I have them in little baggies with their names, but I have no idea what I am going to do with them. It seems kind of yucky to hang on to them.:rotfl2:

The toothfairy never left a note. However, we now have tink picking up the teeth for the toothfairy. Tink visited us every night at WDW in August. So when DD lost a tooth after WDW, DH suggested that I call Tink to see if she could come for the toothfairy. So now with each tooth we 'call' Tink and she brings little presents instead of money along with pixie dust.

Both of my children, wrote to the TF on the envelopes that held each tooth. So while it may be gross...I have them all! The stored teeth came into play, when DS asked to see them to verify that the TF wasn't real! While he was the one to figure it out and asked me about it, he needed a visual, just to be completely sure...;)

DD wrote the Tooth Fairy a nice note when her first tooth fell out, so she got a tiny note back (in a tiny envelope- boy, that was a pain to make!). The Tooth Fairy hasn't ever written again, but DD treasures her letter- she keeps it in her small jewelry box.

Tink came once, when the Tooth Fairy was busy. Tink left Disney Dollars instead of regular cash, and she left a trail of Pixie Dust in her wake, and a glittery "Fairy kiss" on DD's cheek. DD was thrilled, since she was leaving for WDW the next week. Amazing how the Tooth Fairy KNEW she'd need Disney Dollars! ;)

We have a very generous tooth fairy. My DS8 just lost two teeth this past week. First one he got $3 the second he got $5. Tooth fairy likes to mix it up a bit. (For the Very 1st tooth he got $5 and a toy)

Now, my DD5 has not lost any teeth and of course (being as dramatic as she is) she is just beside herself because she has not lost any teeth and her best friend has lost 2 already. (My DS didn't lose his first til he was almost 7 so she might be waiting awhile) -- Anyway - sometimes the tooth fairy will leave DD something under her pillow too because she was in the area anyway. So, this week she got a gold dollar and a quarter and then a $1 bill.

The Tooth Fairy only left a note once; when my DD left her a note with no tooth asking if she could keep just one tooth.

The Tooth Fairy said yes and still left the gold dollar! :goodvibes
