OT: Did you child do this while Potty Training

I could have written this post-I just want to say, Mrs.D, you have made me feel so much better and not alone. My DS is also a late August B-day, and just turned 4 and we have struggled with toilet training and school all year. Anyway, thanks for sharing and good luck to the OP.

Thanks Fireworks Fan! It is reassuring to know it's not just me (like "I'M" the one potty training!) But it really is amazing what a difference a year makes.

I agree with the not pushing it. It's hard though.

With my middle child, I thought for sure that I had it made when he was pretty much completely potty trained by 2.5. He did #2 before #1 in the potty, we were so proud, lol. Then when he hit his 3rd birthday he completely and totally regressed. It was so frustrating for me. He finally made up his mind last Easter (at 4.25 years old or so) that he was done with pull-ups. One day he started going pee-pee on the potty chair and has only had maybe 3-4 times where he has had an accident after that. Poopy was a totally different story, it was off and on until about a month after wearing underwear. We haven't really had any accidents since.

We just tried to be patient and let him do his thing on his own time schedule. Our ped said once that 3.5 is average for potty training, so although I was so sick of diapers and pull-ups I tried to keep that in mind. It seemed to work the same way with our eldest son too, he was pt around 3.5 but we let him learn on his own schedule. Sometimes I feel badly when I know others are potty training way earlier (SIL) but it seems like every time I've pushed it with my kids they've regressed, which is so frustrating!
