DD is almost 13 months, and I've been having a problem with her diapers for awhile now. She went from 3's to 4's pretty quickly (poops up the back from sitting in her Exersaucer! No fun) and now... the 4's seem HUGE. She's getting longer and skinner, so I gave 3's a shot. BUT, now she's leaking in the morning, out the legholes mainly. Didn't have as much of a problem with 4s. I was thinking of trying the Overnites by Huggies, but sometimes she falls asleep too quickly to get a new diaper on her, and I don't think I'd want to change a dry diaper. But then, washing her sheets almost every morning stinks too!
Does any brand make a size 3-4? (I remember Swaddlers having a 2-3, and I think I saw a 1-2)

And also.. I've been meaning to ask.. how are Target diapers? I'm too chicken to try a pack!

Thanks a bunch, in advance! :flower3:

if you arent having a problem with the 4s, i would say use 4s. they arent going to be too big. when my sons were little my middle son wore a 6 and my youngest wore a 3. it was too annoying buying 2 different sizes so they both wore a 6. never had a problem. just pull them tighter around the waist.
oh and i only use store brand diapers. cant see spending twice as much for soemthing im only going to throw away.

If she's leaking out the legs, I would try a different brand - all kids are shaped different, so a different cut might be what she needs. I used Luvs for my older boy with no problem, but they don't fit my younger guy at all - leaks like the Titanic - so it's Cruisers for him. I know it stinks to drop the money on a whole pack in the hopes you'll find something better, but figure if she's already leaking, what difference does it make if she continues to leak, right?

I say try a different brand as well. The Huggies seem to run a little smaller than Pampers to me.

And I love Target and was hoping the Target brand diapers wouldbe good, but they SUCKED! We tried them twice and will never do it again. They are thin and hard.

They make a liner called a diaper doubler that you can put into her regular diaper at night. But if the 3 is leaking, I agree that you should switch to the 4. I have used Target and they didn't fall apart or anything. Some store brands don't seem to contain the odor, but Target was fine.

DS (21 mos) was leaking at night until I bought Huggies Overnites. They are awesome. He hasn't had a leak since we started using them. The only thing is that around here it's hard to find size 3's in the Overnights. A lot of the stores that carry them only stock size 4 and up.

During the day, we use Pampers Cruisers. I tried the Target brand because my friend loves them. They were terrible. They leaked every time.

Agree! My son does best in pampers cruisers but he had a few months where he was "in between" sizes. The 3's were too small but the 4's were too big. So he were Huggies 4's for a few months before he could wear the Cruisers in 4s. They seemed to be a little smaller.

I tried Luvs and other cheaper brands but they never worked for my son. He leaked out EVERY time! So it's always Pampers or Huggies for him. My sister's kids on the other hand used cheap diapers just fine with no leaks at all. Depends on the kids.

Good luck in your quest to find a better diaper!

My son is almost 13 months old now and he is currently is 3's. We have tried other brands but nothing seems to hold the leaks like Pampers Cruisers. LOVE THEM. They were the only ones that worked for my daughter too. I can't believe how much they hold overnight!! :thumbsup2

Did you know that Luvs are made by Pampers? When the Pampers Baby-Dry are improved, the old Baby-Dry becomes the improved Luvs. I found that out when buying Luvs at BJs, as there is a Pampers Manufacturing label in the packages.

My son was allergic to Huggies and cheaper diapers, so it was always Pampers or Luvs for him. With the other diapers, he kept developing yeast. :scared:

For a heavy soaker I'd use plastic pants. Not the pull on kind we had as kids but well made breathable ones. I love motherease but kooshies would work too. It'll save you from doing alot of laundry.

I tried just about every brand out there on dd when she was an infant. I personally found pampers to be the best. They don't leak for me, and I can actually save money on diapers because I don't have to change them as often. I don't let my kids run around in stinky diapers or anything, but it seemed like with any other brand they always felt soaked, or worse leaked. I've never had a leak while using pampers, with either kid. No diaper rash either.

My suggestion would be to go up to the four's if the three's are leaking. If they seem too big, just do the velcro and then roll them down.

We love Target's diapers much better than the name brands. My DS is tall and skinny and they contain superbly (he is 27 lbs and in size 4s) plus they don't reek like Huggies (nasty pee smell) or the fake baby powder smell of Luvs/Pampers that makes me gag.

I'd try them for yourself and not rely on opinions here. The Target diapers have changed since my youngest was born so someone who tried them more than about 18 months ago probably didn't try the current type.

My ds5months is changes sizes early. He is in 3's now. We use the cruisers. I always change him to the next size before he reaches the weight because he starts leaking through the smaller sizes. The cruisers start at 18lbs I think and I started him in them when he was 14 lbs with no problem. He is 16 lbs now and is still using them. My mom says that when they pee through or when you can smell the urine it's time to go up a size. I have also found that only Pampers work for him. He has peed through everything else we tried. We tried cloth at one point and he peed through one kind but not the other, but having to take them to my moms and wash them every day was too much of a pain. (we don't have a washing machine).

Have you ever considered using cloth??(Fuzzibunz, Happy Heiney, swaddlebees, Green acre designs were my favorite) The pockets (have to stuff it) or all in ones (just use like a disposible no stuffing or covers) are great..i have to say with my youngest she had one leak (totally my fault) in the 26 months she was in diapers. They are actually really super easy to take care of and have a great resale value. Just something else to consider.

DD was leaking at night through her 3s right about the time when someone on the DIS mentioned overnights. I put her in the 4s of those the next day. No leaks since. I switched her to daytime 4s before she was the suggested weight because the 3s were getting hard to close around her belly (or belyyee in her words). She's gotten longer and leaner too, but now she fits in them better. We've used Huggies since day 1. I use the natural fit? (the red packaging). My parents use the regular Huggies (white packaging with Mickey). She's fine in both.

I should mention that she only leaked onto her onesie under her winter pjs. She never soaked the sheet, so maybe her leak isn't as great as others. Still gross though--and makes more laundry.

She also sleeps on her tummy with her tail up in the air. But I think that occurred more when she was leaking because she didn't want to lay on it. That's more of a nap or morning pose. But gravity being what it is, it caused the regular 3s to leak up her belly at night.

I tried to find the Huggies Overnights last night, but I only found 4's and 5's. I guess I will continue to try to find 3's, but I might just give in and buy 4's.

LOL, I had to laugh, DD sleeps in a tummy-down, tooshie-up position too, and I think that's a lot of the problem too.

I thought to try cloth diapers, but DH said no way!

So, looks like the verdict is size 3 Pampers for the day, and Huggies Overnites at night... in whichever size I can get 'em!

I appreciate all of your insight and info :flower3: Seems like most of us are on the same page on many things, especially the Pampers! Despite the nighttime leaks, they do seem to fit the best.

Thanks a bunch, again!!:flower3: :flower3: :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

My DD couldn't have been much older than yours is now when I switched to the size 4 overnights from size 3 regulars. It was sometime in the spring, 14/15 months since I know she was still in winter pjs.

They were a little big, but you can get them pretty tight. And space to hold what it needs to hold ;) is what you're looking for. Don't go crazy looking for the 3s. I've honestly never seen them. And, you'll fit into them eventually--they grow so fast.

We use Pampers Baby Dry right now. Mostly because i have been finding them on clearance lately and with a coupon I just can't pass them up. Any how we have used Pampers, Huggies and Luvs, pretty much whatever I have a coupon for at the time and that are on sale.

When I had DD1 I tried Target brand because I really wanted to save the money, and all diapers are created equally right? WRONG. They were terrible. When I got prego with DD2 I thought "I'm not even going to waste the money because they were terrible last time" but I gave in and tried them again and again they were terrible. I really should have learned my lesson the first time around.

Try them, maybe they will work for you and you can save some $$$ at the same time.

Another thing we tried when DD would leak at night was to put a maxi pad in her diaper, an ultra thin one. It worked...
