There seems to be a lot of people on this board from the Waterloo area. My husband and I are planning a little getaway sometime this fall and are thinking of staying overnight at the Destination Inn in Waterloo. My other option was the Best Western St. Jacobs Country Inn. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Both places are pretty close to one another.
Destination is in a pretty busy area-busy street large mall, home depot, LCBO-very motel like, right beside the expressway.
Best Western is across the street from an outlet mall and the st jacobs farmers market. Nice place, quieter area (except when Sat market is going on). It's right beside the St Jacobs Country Playhouse theatre-check to see what stage shows are going on. I think Cats just finished, Corpse (classified as a witty Thriller) is next and then Aladdin.
Personally I like the looks of the Best Western better. Just a short drive from the village of St. Jacobs, cute little artsy/crafty village. Lots of nice places to eat-Stone Crock Inn and Vidalias (a market style dining place).
Depending on what you want to do either place is good.

I second the Best Western St Jacobs. I haven't stayed there, but have been there for business meetings. A nice place, definitely a more upscale "hotel" feel. I live 5 min away from it - it is right on the edge of Waterloo. One minute down the road and you are in town, literally. The destination inn is just 3-4 minutes from this hotel, but as the last poster said it is a very busy area and doesn't appear as nice (box motel look). The road noise would be a lot higher too. You could walk from Destination to a Kelsey's, Quizno's or a Wendy's, whereas you would have to hop in the car from the Best Western, however it is truly just a few minutes to the same places.

Another vote for the best western for all the reasons listed above!

Oh yes! go with the Best Western. The other is well how do you say ... uhm sorta like a what we call "niagara falls hotel for those who forgot to make ressies" Not even terribly basic. On the road and right across from too much busy stuff. I think you would prefer the other option :thumbsup2

I loved the Best Western. Actually, I loved the area so much that I just moved to Waterloo on Thursday from Richmond Hill!

My aren't you the smart one! :welcome: We don't live in Waterloo per say (Guelph here) but we can get to Conestoga Mall in under 20 minutes :cheer2: You will Love it!
