OT~ dd wants ag sam for xmas from santa I need ideas.

Okay I ordered Sam but she is on back order until mid jan. I bought the meet samantha book for her but I don't know what to do she has been telling me she wants the doll for a while and wanted it even more when she found out that she was being retired. I didn't plan on getting it for her b/c she has two already and I planned on getting accessories for them instead. Well when she gave us her santa list sam was on the top and she let me know that "mom I put her on my list b/c if you can't get her santa can" well I had to order her that day but she was already on back order so do I tell her that I ordered her or give her a certificate saying she is coming from me and dh or she is coming at a later date from santa.

How old is your DD? Would she be willing to accept a brown haired Just Like You doll or a different one altogether? Sorry I can't be of more help, but unless you're willing to pay Ebay prices then it will be very hard to find a Sam.

Just make sure to keep checking Ebay/Craigslist/Goodwill etc. and you might luck out. Also if you happen to find a cheap, bad condition Sam you can always clean her up. Websites like www.agplaythings.com would be able to help you with that.

If you want to stick with the Santa route, would she do ok with a note from Santa that said "Dear....., I am busy finishing up your very special Sam doll, because she is being retired I got a little behind, but yours will be delivered as soon as possible?". Then when it comes in January, wrap it up with special Santa paper and another note indicating it's the doll Santa promised?? If not, then I would tell her that because Sam is being retired you decided that you and Daddy would order it for her instead of Santa because you heard he was backed up on orders and this way you knew she could get it even if it was a little after Christmas.

I just wanted to say thanks for the ideas and I was excited to find sam waiting at the door for us when we got home from our trip. The only down fall was that her accessories didn't come w/ her the packing slip says the estimated ship date for them is 5/15/09 go figure and dd keeps telling me that she wants to get the accessories b/c she wanted them w/ her doll.
