I know these requests usually go on the Community Board but I feel that I "know" my Budget Board friends better.

If you could possibly send a good thought her way this morning, it would be appreciated. She's very nervous about the surgery and recovery period. At 14, she's old enough to understand the seriousness of general anesthesia and how painful the recovery process will be. If I could, I would take her place. It's so hard to see her so upset.

Thank you, everyone.

...and some prayers & pixie dust too, that all will go well for your daughter today! And here's some for you too...I know it's hard to see your children stressing or suffering in anyway! :(

Hope all goes well. My DS whos 5 had tubes put in and adnoids removed on 12/9. they didn't want to do tonsils and his were still small so they figured the adnoids were the problem and they were. Good luck hope you stocked up on popsicles and jello.

Mad4Mouse- I hope things go smoothly for your little girl- I will remember her in my prayer today.
PS: Whenever I see that picture of your daughter I think that she looks like that little girl from SpyKids. Very cute.

Sending good thoughts her way today.

I had the same surgery when I was 8. Sometimes I think I was better off because I didnt know better like your daughter does. As for recovery, I was out and about in a few days but still couldnt talk good for about a week or so.:wave2:

Sending prayers your way. My DS had his out when he was 12 and it was a piece of cake. They recover so much quicker than we do!

More prayers and good wishes going your way!!! My neighbors DS had his out and was doing pretty good after a few days. Let us know how she did.

:earsgirl: Hope she has a speedy recovery!!!!!!!disneykid

As a mom who will be in the same circumstances as you in 3 months, I understand how your feeling right now. I hope your DD will have a quick recovery!

Prayers her way!
Lisa

Sending good thoughts your way! I had my tonsils removed when I was around the same age. Recovery was not too bad..

Sending along best wishes for a speedy recovery. Eat lots of ice cream for me.

((((Hugs))))

Gosh...since this is the budget board, here I was thinking you were going to ask about listing them on ebay or something!! :teeth:

Seriously though, I'm hoping things go fine for her!

Greg

Good luck and best wishes to your DD!

I just went through this last summer (at 26, which was not fun), and the best advice I can give you is this: do NOT let her get behind on the pain meds. I was so exhausted from the first few days of taking them every three hours around the clock, I reset my alarm for one extra hour of sleep. Misery ensued. If she can "stay ahead of the pain," she should be okay.

Also FYI, ice cream may sound like a good idea, but it isn't. Dairy = coughing = BAD. My favorite things were Italian Ice cups.

Here is tons of good wishes and healing Pixie Dust for Your DD!!!

Hey, M4TM, check in when you have a minute and let us know how DD did this morning. :)

UPDATE:
We're home and resting comfortably thanks to the magic of modern pain medications. The surgery was uneventful and she was in the OR less than an hour. I think the IV needle bothered her more than her throat did!

Cheapmom- You're not the first person to say that she looks like the girl from SpyKids. When we were on the Disney Cruise this past summer, there were a lot of little children who were convinced that she was Alexa Vega. They followed her around until she gave them her autograph.

ibleedblue- Thanks for the laugh. I wonder if anybody ever auctioned off their tonsils before. That would just be too morbid!

Thank you everyone for your good wishes and suggestions. I have a freezer full of popsicles and Italian water ices waiting for her. Everytime she wakes up, I make her take a sip or two of Gatorade, no matter how much it hurts. I think it's going to be a long night tonight for both of us.

I'm glad the surgery went okay. I don't know if your doctor told you this or not, and it may not work this way for your daughter, but when my second was 5, he had tonsils/adenoids out. The doctor said the first three days wouldn't be that bad, but then the fourth day through about the 7th day would be worse. That's exactly what happened.

I'm not telling you that to be negative, just so that IF it happens you won't be surprised. Once again, I'm glad her surgery went well. (My son's snoring totally went away once he had his)

Lori P. :)
