we are going to Dattona beach for 3 days before Disney. Anyone know a great CLEAN, AFFORDABLE place to stay?

Was just at Daytona a couple of weeks ago. Stayed at the Hilton Ocean Walk on a AAA advance purchase rate of $99. (go to www.hilton.com)
It was very nice and the location perfect - right on the beach.

Be careful in your choice. Some of that area is distinctly seedy. It's an hour and a half drive from MCO.

New Smyrna Beach is a nicer, family town. There is a Holiday Inn that has very reasonable room rates, is located on the beach and has nice places to eat around it.

There are a lot of great places to stay in Daytona. If you want on the beach, then stay on the north end of A1A and avoid the south end. If the beach part doesn't matter, then staying up by the speedway would be a great place. The Hilton Garden Inn is a great place. We stay in Daytona often since we got married there;). If you have any you are looking at, let us know and I'll do my best to tell you about it.

Why? It's quieter in Daytona Beach Shores, and you are closer to the Nat'l Seashore. There are plenty of beachfront properties in DBS.

I'll agree that New Smyrna is very nice, but be aware that sharks are rather active there near the Ponce de León Inlet; it's a feeding ground. If you swim there at the wrong time of day, you risk getting bitten.

I have a 97 year-old aunt that lives in Daytona so I am there quite often....A lot of the hotels are not too nice but I have had great luck with the Daytona Bahama House. It is in Daytona Beach Shores which is a much quiter end of the beach. I often travel alone and have never felt "unsafe" there. It is rated #1 on tripadvisor.com.

I can't help you with where to stay but I can't suggested that you DO NOT stay at the El Caribe Hotel. We did a Daytona Beach/Disney trip last summer and that hotel was disgusting. The room was smelly, had bugs and the cleaning person left long black hairs all over the shower and bathroom EVERY day after "cleaning". When we opened the pull out couch for the kids, it had dirty bed linens wadded up in a ball in the middle! The door to the connecting room next door was not locked (thank goodness I had checked it)...I could go on and on. The beach was amazing and the kids still rave about it but the hotel was disgusting.

THere are a LOT of really yucky hotels in that area. We have had success at the LaQuinta right there on the beach (the one by the speedway was gross). We especially enjoyed the pool there!!! direct access to the beach from the pool deck - we were there 2x, both were for new years eve!!!

Because Daytona Beach Shores is a different town. I didn't say it wasn't a nice area, but if you are staying IN Daytona Beach, then the north side is better.

thanks ladies someone suggested to us the holiday inn on S.Atlantic Ave. anyone know about it?

Another vote for Sun Viking Lodge.

We moved down to Fl 5 years ago, and before that we always stayed at Sun Viking.

Very family oriented, clean and family owned and run.

Directly on the beach, indoor and outdoor pools.;)

I completely agree! We leave for Daytona Beach Shores in 13 days and I can't wait! We stay at Ocean Court. It's a motel, ~45 rooms. British/family owned - EXTREMELY clean and quiet. Ocean side of A1A. Grills, picnic tables, shuffleboard, nice big pool on the property. The owners and their staff are wonderful people. Can't beat it. We've been going there for 12+ years.
