What is Denver Int'l like? I am looking at a connection on my way to Reno and am just wondering if it is a nice airport to navigate and spend some layover time in. The other option is Chicago-Ohare and I think Denver is the better choice due to size. I am looking at flying United.

Thanks.

I like connecting in Denver. On United you'll be in Concourse B for your incoming and connecting flights. Being newer, the terminals are pretty open and you really don't feel cramped. The B Concourse has the typical airport food court, plus the typical airport bar and grill and maybe one other sit-down type place. If you have a lot of time you can get on the Train and take it to the A or C Concourse and look at some of the artwork in those concourses. You can ride between A, B & C and stay inside of the secure area.

Is TED also in the same concourse? It looks like the flights I am looking at are United to Denver and then TED to Reno.....

Also, is Denver similar to Atlanta with the different terminals and the train running underground? I really liked Atlanta when I went through there last year.

Actually, I forgot that United has 6 gates on the A Concourse that are used by Ted, but will be giving them up to Frontier Airlines. I'm not sure if this has happened yet, or not.

And, yes, the train system at Denver is very similar to the one in Atlanta... underground in a straight line!

Denver is a very nice airport. I would choose it over O'hare. There are plenty of food choices and a nice shopping area.

Sounds like Denver is the way to go..... now, any tips on how to convince my dad to use 50,000 miles to fly us both to Reno in May? :-)

I think Ted is with the United flights now... even if they aren't it's easy to go over to other the Concourses on the train. Denver is nice, very open and easy to navigate. Concourse B is L O N G, but has several moving walkways so even going from one end to another is doable with a layover. The airport website is pretty good, you might want to look at it before you go as it details where the artwork and restaurants are.

I have already been there and will go back many more times if I book. I love air travel and I love being prepared when I travel (I am kind of an anal planner.... gotta have all ducks in a row and counted twice). I heard lots of horror stories about Atlanta, but I loved the airport. I thought the train between terminals was slick and I enjoyed my time there. Denver looks like a smaller version of Atlanta.

Just to add my two cents to this--

I used to book flights for a number of people where I worked. The standard (unwritten) rule for cross-country flights was to book connections through Denver, not through Chicago.

The new Denver airport is awesome! DH and I recently flew to Disneyland and connected through Denver.
