I am just trying to decide what to get my DS5 (with Autism) for christmas- He doesnt talk that much so it isnt like he is whinning over a special toy. He really likes Toy Story (Woody & Jesse), But we have all the dolls and I am just at a loss for what to get him this year for his 6th birthday(Nov) and for Christmas this year.

Is there any new sensory toys out there that are a MUST have?
Any ideas or suggestions would be great- I was leaning toward a guitar (just a small one) since Woody has one he would like that.

TIA

I know this is off topic and I'm not trying to hijack your thread. :offtopic: I really don't have any suggestions for your child, but I'm sure you'll find some great ideas here from other parents.

My pet gripe about gifts for the disabled (I'm not referring to your situation, gifts for children), is that people tend to forget that disabled people are people. I've had arthritis for about 20 years and don't consider myself disabled in a severe sense, yes, I have a condition that limits me, but I am a part of the living, breathing world. So many times I've had people say to me or about me "I don't know what to get her. I don't know what to buy for 'someone like her' " Well, what do they buy other people? Really, I'm not some creature from Mars, its not that hard to figure me out! But the thing I despise the most is someone trying to "help me" with a gift. There it is, Christmas, my birthday, or any other gift giving occassion, I open up a pretty box, and find a heating pad! :furious: Or some other gizmo that's supposed to cure my health problems! I mean, what do you say? Here it is, a holiday, and I'm supposed to say "Oh, yes, just what I needed, think I'll plug it in right now". Really, I'm capable of picking out whatever help products that are appropriate for me. On a holiday, I don't want my problems rubbied in my face,I'd like something nice, too, like a nice piece of jewelry, some nice perfume, a good book, well........gifts you'd give anyone else I'd appreciate ,too! I'm especially sick of those Isotoner gloves! I must have at least 20 pair! What I can't take back I give to the Goodwill. The giver is always so proud of their gift--"I thought it would help your poor hands". Honestly, I can figure out what my poor hands need without making it the topic of the day at a holiday!

Ok, now I've vented, so lets turn the topic back to the original one. I'm sure you'll find many good suggestions here for your little boy! Good Luck! :Pinkbounc

MightyMom that bed is so cute- My guy would just poke a hole in it- my luck.

Yes I have lived in Irving my whole life and guess what ... this is a shocker.... I have NEVER been to a Cowboys game. My DH goes all the time but I have never gone.

BTW I love the shirts on the kiddos in the picture- Where did you get the design to make them. I have never seen anything like that. TOO CUTE

I live 8 looooong hours south of you in McAllen and I've been to more Cowboys games than you. I haven't been in 3 years, since I was pregnant with my little one. I was in a high risk pregnancy.... and the only way my doctor allowed me to go was if I flew up and back the same day. So that's exactly what I did!

As for the shirts.... you're making me blush....
I made them myself. I drew the picture out with pencil colors on high quality laser printer paper. I scanned my final drawing and transfered it into Microsoft Publisher. From there I added some text to the picture. (Disney World 2006 at the top..... and the kids names on each hat)
Then I printed it onto iron on transfer paper for colored fabric..... and of course then transfered it to the shirts.

It was easy. Well.... easy for me anyway..... I do realize some people aren't crafty. My best friend would rather eat live ants then do something like that. :)

Anyway.... I got a million compliments on the kids shirts.... I was so proud. :goodvibes

I'll be more than happy to help you if you wanted to do something like that... just PM me.

Trisha (I'm not REALLY MIGHTYMOM........ I only wear the cape on special occasions.)
