We are about to choose siding, roofing, etc for an extensive house remodel. We have a little book with about 12 3 inch samples of siding colors. Is there a website that will show me actual photos of houses with a particular color siding? I am trying to google it but not having much luck. I am looking at Wolverine American Legend siding (colors Spruce or Cypress to be exact).

Thanks to anyone who has info that might help.

Have you tried driving around your city to see if you can find a color that you really like?

That's what we did when we were doing the roof, siding, windows and deck. Once I found the color I liked on an actual house, we approached the owner and asked if we could match the color to our book.

One thing I found is that the colors in the book look lighter than what they are when they go up on the house. I'm glad a drove around and looked because I would have chosen a darker color out of the book and wouldn't have been happy once it went up.

We had our windows and siding done about 5 years back. I could not find many websites. We called the manufacturer directly and they pointed us to builder showroom who was an authorized dealer and displayed the samples. If you ask your contactor, they should give you pictures of their work. Ours gave us addresses of recent jobs so we could drive by and see how the houses turned out. The tricky part is matching roof color with the siding. It is hard to envision, you have to see the finished product.

Well we are leaning towards the "spruce green" siding and we are having stonework done around the bottom of the house (split entry style house). Any opinions on roof and shutter colors?

I love houses that have the green/barn red/tan color scheme. I just know if it'll go okay with our white garage doors.... And I don't want our house to look like Christmas!

I just went through this last year while building my home. Look at the Norandex website. They are a manufacturer of vinyl siding, and they have an online design tool. I pulled up a pic of a house that was similar to mine, and was able to apply various colors of siding to the picture. You can also do this on some paint companies' websites with exterior paint-- I know you are looking at siding vice paint, but you can still visualize the colors this way. Hope that helps!

This is great advice! :thumbsup2 Is there a newer subdivision in your area? They would be most likely to have the current colors, without being faded. We did this when we built 8 years ago. We drove around another new subdivision, and I would get out, run up to the house, and hold the tiny sample against the siding. I felt ridiculous, but it gave us a much better idea of what we liked.

The one we first picked out turned out to be bright YELLOW when it was on a whole house. The dingy-looking, pale sample turned out to be the cream color we actually wanted. :confused3

We went through the same thing in late 2010. Our contractors gave us addresses of houses in our area where they had used the colors we were interested in. They even offered to let us speak with the homeowners if we wanted to. Seeing them in person was a great help! We gave them permission to give our address to new clients, our house turned out so good they listed pictures (with our permission) on their website.
