oh no i hope it clears up soon. i suffer from sinus but my dr doesnt believe me and keeps giving me hayfever or allergy medicine both of which i dont suffer from. i have to wait for my regular dr to come back from maternity leave to sort it.

I've only had the problem once before when I had a chest infection. My dad reckons I will take after my mum as she has sinus problems, I don't want to take after her fullstop:eek:

I'm alright, had to go and have a meeting with Kyra's teacher this morning and we have decided to refer her for speech therapy which i kinda knew was coming as some words she cannot pronounce properly. Oh well i had it when i was younger so its not the end of the world.

my sister had to have that too. she actually started looking forward to the classes lol. its great that they caught it early too. my sis was like eight so it was harder for her.

i have the opposite problem with ash. my health nurse is convinced ash has a problem with her speech but ash has perfect speech, knows what everything is and talks in sentences. it used to be a problem with her weight so i guess she is just clinging to anything so i still have to visit her. i guess single parents are just not able to raise children without constant scrutiny :lmao:

I seem to be able to understand everything Kyra says and yes she has trouble pronouncing some words just like i did when i was younger. So i guess we will just have to see how it goes.

I hate it that single parents are sterotyped, its not fair.

I think parents understand better what the children are saying. My sister knows what my niece is saying all the time, where in some cases I don't. I'm sure Kyra will be fine

you know best anyway emma. its good that she will get help. when will she start? are her teeth ok? my sisters problem was her front teeth were out by a tiny bit so her tongue was hitting her palette if that makes sense

I'm off to sort my lunch out. Back later:goodvibes

Two of ours were referred but nothing every came of it ;) By the time the Healthcare Trust and Education Authority had fixed up a therapist neither needed their services :)
I think it is a fairly standard referral these days :)

I really don't like how they want to start referring kids to speech therapy when they're so young. Adam still can't pronounce his words properly (he says 'very' as 'terry', change as 'cange', pyjamas is jamanas, that kind of thing) and it's only me & Louise who can really understand him most of the time. Even Daddy needs us to translate lol. My friend who's a speech therapist (but in the States) says it's very common for them to still not be able to pronounce certain 'blocks' of the alphabet when they're this young - and when they do, they'll do it in 'chunks' so to speak. When Louise was younger, she used to say things like 'hostipal' instead of hospital etc and I panicked lol - but needn't have to really. I'm more relaxed with Adam. Sometime last year, nursery was quite concerned that he wasn't talking loads yet but I told them that he does talk at home etc and I wasn't at all concerned. Then we went to Disney in April and he hasn't stopped since :rotfl: . He's still quite quiet at nursery but he's sooo chatty at home (can't shut him up sometimes) - even my friends say that they can't believe he's a quiet chappy at nursery lol.

I'm sure Kyra will be fine and as they all say, they start doing things in their own time :) .

Robert used to have to go to Speech Therapy when we he was kid, it definately isn't the end of the world.....:goodvibes The only word he has trouble pronouncing is 'Sorry', but I find that a common trait in most men! :lmao:
