Hey all, I've looked around on the scrapboard page here on the DIS, and I've been wondering if scrapbooking is as popular in Canada as it is in the States.

I think it's something that I would enjoy doing, so I'd like to check out a store, maybe take a class.

Do any of you fellow Canuks scrapbook? Any in the GTA have recommendations of good places to go give it a shot?

Tabetha,

What part of the GTA? If you are in the east end, head down to Srapbooks by Design on Queen St E. at Woodbine Ave. There is Green P parking in the back. I have only been once, but the stuff he has is cool, they have classes, crops and more. I am headed back tomorrow as I need a couple more sheets of bazzil for a swap here on the dis.

Thanks Penny! I will definately check them out. I live right downtown (west end), so I can just "ride the rocket" across town.
I was hoping I wouldn't have to head out to the 'burbs (no car, just Autoshare), so this is perfect!

I don't think its as popular in Canada yet. I knew only 1 person who scrapped in Ont. and also a friend of my sister was big into it.

It is definitely more popular here in Alberta. I have spoken to so many people who do it.

I took a free beginer class at my local scrapbooking store. One of the other new scrappers said she was the only one of her friends who didn't do it. Also watch out for demos and "make it and take it' at Michael's. I spent 5 hrs there one day.

There are more hobby stores in the U.S. to choose from: Michael's, Hobby Lobby, AC Moores, Joannes and local scrapbooking stores.

You could probably find a Creative Memories consultant or Stampin up consultant near you.

Scrapbooking is very popular here..I know tons of folks that scrap! I belong to several online scrapping forums that are strictly Canadian as well!
You will love that store in Toronto..my friend was out there for a visit and picked up lots of cool stuff!
If you want to meet lots of Canadian scrapbookers come visit us at www.loveisinthedetails.com we have great forums and store that rocks..the shipping is so low and the owner will try to order anything you want! And NO taxes!!
We just had a online crop on the weekend and it was so much fun-gave away some great prizes!

ughhh!! I am such a bone head..was typing and not paying attention to my .com's and .ca's!
sorry about that!
thanks pjpoohbear for posting the correct link!

no problem, it made me go and take a look around the store, lol. Saw some stuff I liked and really wanted, but it will have to wait until after xmas.

Checked out the website, that's really cool!
I think once we get back from Disney, my sis and I will head over to the store in the beaches and sign up for a class or something. I'd like to make a little book for each of our parents to remember the trip.

Love scrapbooking-Michaels is great for supplies and I have had excellent luck at Dollarama and Looney Lizard.

tabetha...were you the one who signed up as Tigger5??
If so you have lots of Welcome messages over there...lol!

Yes the dollar stores are carrying so much now! Even walmart has some good basics..as well as office depot!

Nope, I didn't sign up on the site yet - it's good to know that everyone's so friendly, though!

I had no idea there's scrapbooking stuff in dollar stores! Well, my sister and I are going to a couple tonight to look for cheap rain ponchos on our way home tonight, maybe I'll sneak a peek around for "other things"!!

Yup-went in to get my $1 poncho too and ended up with about $20 in scrapbooking things lol!

Sandylion stickers is actually a Canadian company and is located in Markham. Ontario. They have an outlet store at their building that sells stickers cheap. I haven't been there in a couple of years so I'm not sure the outlet store is still there.

If anybody wants to take a look and see if they're still there, they were located on Cochrane Drive...near the Costco.

I scrapbook, and I pretty much taught myself. I have some idea books, which I copy--ummm use for ideas! LOL I LOVE it, but I got on stints where I scrapbook for a few days then I don't do any for weeks. I look back at my first book (California/Disnayland) and laugh, but hey it was my first one! LOL. The only draw back is it can get pretty expensive. I try and buy stuff on sale, like last Boxing day I got scissors (the decorative ones) at Michael's for 2 for a dollar! I got them all!

I'm currently planning a vacation to vancouver next August - where will be the best place to pick up bargain scrapbook materials?

I am a Creative Memories Consultant in northern ontario. Creative Memories has consultants everywhere. Just go to their site and you can locate a consultant close to you. They offer classes and workshops. Have fun!!!!!

We should get a SCRAPBOOK MEET going in the New Year!!!!! Everyone I know scrapbooks! "A Buck Or Two" Store has amazing Disney stickers and paper! Chat soon! S
