Hello :goodvibes

I was hoping someone could give me some ideas as to where I can look to buy some GOOD quality children's furniture. Nothing fancy, just good quality stuff. We are looking to buy for both daughters' rooms (they are 6 and 4), but I find that everything we have looked at isn't that great when it comes to durability. I've looked at Leons and Sears, but it isn't solid wood (ie. cheap). A friend of ours bought Pottery Barn for her daughter's room, but I'm thinking that it is pretty pricey ... but is it comparable to other good quality stuff? It is beautiful though and is the style I would like to get them. I want the furniture to be the kind that will last a while, not "little girly" stuff!

Oh ... and I guess it has to be somewhere in southern ontario as we are just north of Barrie ...

Thanks so much ...
Kerri

Well I have heard that Pottery Barn is not the best for quality vs price. I would suggest going to a local store i.e. not a chain. Look for Morigeau Lepie stuff.. but it is very pricey too. I think that it will be hard to find good quality wood for a good price. We have not worried too much about getting real wood or anyting because I would prefer to be able to change my kids furniture when they are older and not feel bad for how much I spent I a, just not the kind of person who could live with the same furniture for 10 or more years

Our DS's furniture is by Natart. Check them out online to find a store that carries that line. Great quality and durable but not cheap either.

Crate Designs. They are made from solid wood, and are great! We have a store here in London, and I believe the factory is in Chesley Ontario (up near Owen Sound).

Sears Home - we only buy custom made furniture (brand is Whole Home) which is custom made in Montreal by Shermag. Exceptional quality - you pick out wood & stain for the pieces that you choose. We spent approx. $2,500 - $3,000 for twin sleigh bed and 2 dressers - maple wood. This is actually adult furniture with a huge selection of pieces, some of which is smaller if size is an issue. We like this furniture better than Morigeau-Lepine (which is also made in Montreal), as we find it overpriced, as it's marketed for kids.

Good luck, Tiger :)

My husband was just at price club and was saying they had some really nice children's beds etc.
