OT- Body odor in young children

I'm going to second (or third or fourth) switching to organic milk. It has definitely worked for my DD 10. I still don't notice her really needing deodorant yet.

Okay, both my DS(8) and DD(6) started having really funky and/or musty B.O. this past summer. I would notice it every now and again prior to this past summer but it just got really bad enough to make a doctor visit. Now, when I explained that it was really only after some out door playing and/or dance or basketball practice. Their doctor was certain that deodorant of any kind was not necessary at their ages now and to just continue to have them bathe everyday (morning and night) and just clean with a swab of rubbing alcohol w/ cotton balls under the arm pits after an evening bath about 3 times a week and simply apply a dusting of Arm & Hammer baking soda to the arm pits after every bath or shower just like you would deodorant. We have been doing this eveyday since she told me this and there has not been any funky B.O. since. NO KIDDING. So give that a try before you use a deodorant or maybe instead. it is much cheaper as a box of arm & hammer sealed in a air tight container will last for months. BTW I think I will try the organic milk too. Just for a double tap.:thumbsup2

I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much unless she is showing other unusual signs of puberty.

My DS has had stinky armpits since about 3.5. Especially in the summer when he is outside a lot and sweating. He bathes daily. I do have some natural deoderant for him that I use on occassion, and I put baby power in his arm pits every night to help. That seems to do the trick.

I mentioned it to his daycare teacher (large center) and the teacher said you would not believe how stinky the kids are. She said it is terrible in pre-school age group. She said it is more common than not to have a kid with stinky armpits in preschool. I did mention it in passing to his pediatrician at his well visit and she said it is completely normal and not to worry.
