OT: birthday party question

My son's 8th birthday party was a huge success. There were 6 kids total-2 girls and 4 boys.

DH went out and bought a big bag of candy for 3.50 and goodie bags for .50. We divided up the candy between the bags and as each kid brought their little prizes to the table (from redeeming their tickets), I just put them in their bag. They all seemed thrilled.

Thanks for all of the tips. It worked out great!

I'm the queen of cheap goody bags. For DS's party in January each child got a cartoon DVD, a pack of play-doh crayons, a bag of popcorn and a yo-yo or action figure. I picked up everything except the popcorn on clearance at Target. The DVD's were .25, the crayons were free with coupons and a sale and the yo-yo's and action figures were 90% off, so like .19 and .39 each. The popcorn was free at Walgreens with coupons and for the actual bags themselves, I used lunch bags decorated with each child's name on them. Each goody bag cost me under $1.00! The kids loved them too!
