OT: average height of kids for their ages?

I'm 5ft 7" and dh is 6ft 1". We have tall kids, ds15 is 6ft 4" and still growing!! Ds 11 is 5ft 4" and dd 8 is 4ft 8". All 3 of the kids are the tallest in their classes. Ds 15 reached 6ft before he was 13.

What's the average height for kids their age?

According to the CDC growth charts, a 12 yo boy who is 65.25 inches tall, like the OPs son, is above the 95th%. So above "average" for his age. Her DD is above the 95th%, as well.

My girls are roughly the same size, give or take about 5 inches and 5 pounds. It surprises people all the time to hear that they're almost exactly three years apart in age. My 6 yo is around the 95th% in height and weight, but her 9 yo sister is closer to the 25th% in both.

I was definitely 48 inches or more by the time I was nine, as I remember riding Primeval Whirl on our first trip. I'm short!

Yes, we get a lot of surprised looks when people hear that's only 10. Actually, she recently joined an out of town indoor soccer league where nobody knows us. She plays at the 3rd/4th grade level since she's a 4th grader. And because she's a head taller than most of the kids, we catch a lot of comments under people's breath questioning if she's really the right age. Nothing too nasty, but sometimes I just want to stand up and say SHE JUST TURNED 10, OKAY?! She's just a little girl but people tend to treat her and expect things from her as if she's a teen. It's even hard for us to remember too.

My boys are just about average now (height a little above average) but as toddlers and babies they were 95% or above for weight and height and people constantly expected them to do more than they could just because they were bigger.
It was aggravating.

I'm 5'5 my dh is 6'2 and our dd is 5 and 50 inches ( she was in Nov. she has asthma so we go to DR every 3 mo.) no telling what she is now, I know she has grown because pants are getting shorter. she is the tallest in class and grade (kindergarten).

DD at 2 yrs 4 mo is 38 inches or 3'2
DS at 8 yrs 1 mo is 60 inches or 5'0

my kids are split pretty even on the tall/average spectrum.

I'm 5'10" and DH is 5'6".

ODD is just shy of 15 and is 5'4". She stopped growing a couple years ago and is average height for her peers.

YDD is 9yrs4mths and is 5ft even. She'll likely end up my height. She is taller than most everyone her age and most of those 1-2yrs older than her too.

ODS is 8yrs4mths and is 4'10". He's supposed to be well over 6ft tall. He's taller than all his peers but some are pretty close to him.

YDS will be 7 in a month and is 49". He's much shorter than the middle two so it's really up in the air how tall he will end up being. He's very much average and can blend in with his peers.

DD13 is 5'5" and in eighth grade - she is shorter than most of her friends, who are between 5'9" and 6'0". DD10 (just turned 10) is 5'0" - she is not the tallest in her class, but she is taller than most her age (4th grade). She is taller than most of the 6th graders at DD13's middle school. :) She may just be growing early, though - I don't know if she will end up taller than her sister or not, but she is hoping she will! :thumbsup2

Our 11 yr old DS is 5'8". Every age level bball tournament, people question his age.

DD at 2 yrs 4 mo is 38 inches or 3'2
DS at 8 yrs 1 mo is 60 inches or 5'0
Wow I honestly can not believe how tall my dd is.... She is 34 inches at 1 year old. I honestly don't know where she gets it from when she has 5'2" and 5'7" parents.

My daughter measured at 6' at her 12 year check up (though she had not "matured" yet). That was soooo tough for a kid her age. Things got better when she discovered basketball, which she said gave her a reason to be happy about her height. She looked like all legs running up and down the court :rotfl: She is now a fraction under 6'3" and is in her early 20's, lean and athletic. She was 22.5 inches at birth.

My son is 3 years older than she is and the same height.

I hear you! DS13 is 6'2" and has been a head taller than anyone in his class for a couple years now. I wish his classmates would hit a growth spurt!

Unfortunately DS hates basketball, probably because everyone tells him that he needs to play since he's tall. Some times when children grown quickly, they get clumsy and uncoordinated until they get used to their long limbs.:thumbsup2

I'm sure my nephew will be tall. He is 42" and he will turn 3 in April.

He's almost caught up to one of my daycare children that I thought was quite tall and he will be 5 in August.

Wow! My kids are SHORT! :rotfl2: DS #1 is 40" at 4 years old. DS #2 is about 31.5" at 2 years old! I am about 5'2 and DH is a little under 5"8.
