Our 17 yr old son needs a new truck/vehicle a.s.a.p. His current vehicle is a 1995 ford taurus with 275,000 miles on it-----yep, that is not a typo---275,000 miles. It is started to having things breakdown on it and now the alternator is on it's last leg. My husband doesn't want to throw any more money into this car. Since my husband works out of town during the week, we only have Saturdays to look for vehicles. We would like to get one of those pre-certified auto loan things---where they give you the paper saying you are pre-certified so we can walk into a dealer and test drive and pretty much walk out---instead of spending the normal 5 hours it takes for the whole process. Has anyone used the on-line pre-cert places and would you use it again or recommend it? Thanks so much!

I applied for a CapitalOne Blank Check. The process was VERY EASY! I was able to walk into the dealership...hagle the price like I had a pocket full of cash.......but PLEASE BUY AMERICAN!

275,000 miles is freakin' AWESOME!!!!!!

The last time we purchased a vehicle was 3 years ago. We knew what we could comfortably fit into our budget so we called our bank and they approved us for way more than we wanted to spend right over the telephone. We went to 2 dealers-the first would NOT come off the sticker price 1 penny and the car was used. Went to the next dealership and they came off the brand new model $7000! It was cheaper than what the used one was! Anyway, called the bank, they talked to the "money people" at the dealership. I ran to pick up the check and brought it back to the dealer. We were finished in about 4 hours on a Saturday afternoon. Walked away with a brand new car and a payment plan that gave us enough breathing room that we actually paid it off 2 years early. :cool1: (We don't like debt.) Overall, it was a great experience.
Oh and BTW, on the way home, the first dealership called on my cell phone and offered us the used car for $2000 less than sticker price if we traded in our vehicle. Hated to break the news to them.... we already bought something else!:rotfl2:
Sorry I don't know if I helped you at all, but it was great re-living that story!

Agree. I have used them 3 times myself. Another benefit of this is the dealer will always try and beat the interest rate you obtained through Cap One and you usually end up even better off.
