Anyone have Roken Bok toys for their kids? Would you recommend them? We are thinking of a starter set for DS7. We have another son, 4.5 that they could be passed down to or we could add to the set. I'm just wondering if they are worth it.

I've seen them at the hobby shop and toy store. My kids love to play with the demos, but we don't have any at home.

We got some for our son a few years ago and all three of us had fun with them for a few years. He's 13 now, so he doesn't play with them anymore. But every once in a while...

I thought they were great fun.

Our set is in a box right now- we vary what is on the train table- right now it is just the trains. But we will break out the Rokenbok again shortly. It is fun and the boys love it- we put it away when we had my last son- small balls not good with puppies and babies! (we had both)but everyone is growing up so it might be time to break it out again. It orginally belonged to my now 12 year old. The only thing I can think of as a downside is it takes up A LOT of room. So be sure you have the space for it.

We have the starter set! We played with it for awhile, but then, like java, it had to be put away due to babies and those perfect choking hazard balls it comes with. It is a neat toy though. :)

We have quite a collection!! We got it for my boys 4 & 6 birthdays last year. My oldest is a builder and this is right up his alley. He builds and takes apart and then starts all over again. He has quite a difficult time entertaining himself, but this is the one toy that has had more ways to play with it that he is still playing with it a year later. My 4 yr old is not a builder, but he is the one that like to play with the RC's. It is quite expensive, but worth it b/c of the different types of play that they can do with it. It works for both imaginative/dramatic play and critical thinking/building. All my 6 yr old asked for from Santa was Rokenbok.

The company is great!! One of our RC's didn't work and they sent us out a new one. We think it is one of the best designed and expansive toy for boys(and their dads) One of the things we did was buy a lot of all different extras on ebay. This allowed him to build so many more structures. It does take up a lot of room. I bought a drawer organizer to put his different pieces in and it still needs to other bins to put structures and vehicles in. I hope you guys enjoy it...we do!!

andijean: that's just the kind of recommendation I was looking for. I don't mind spending the money if I know that I'm going to end up with a quality toy. Especially, when it's backed by a reliable company. I ordered it this morning and was still feeling a little unsure about it. This put my mind at ease. Thank you!

Merry Christmas
