Ok...so this is way off topic. I am looking at renovating my bathroom and don't have a clue where to begin. I would like a new bathtub and new tiles surrounding the tub but I am lost on how to find a reputable contractor. I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg. I am wondering if anyone has used Bathfitters before, approx. cost and their opinions of the job.
Thanks in advance
Erin

We used them for our bathtub. Couldn't have been happier and still are. I would definetly recommend them. It cost us around $500 but that was just for the tub and that was several years ago.

Both my parents and my inlaws have used them. Both are very happy with what they had done.

My inlaws cost more because they put something half way up the wall around the bathroom too as they had lilac coloured tiles there. I don't know the cost because of course that wouldn't be anything they would talk about ;) ... they did have a little issue with some of that wall covering stuff coming off in one area, but the fellow came right back and put it back up and they have had no problems since.

My parents house was done after they removed all of the co-ordinating avacado green tiles from around the bathroom (they didn't want to just cover them) ... plus they had to have their flooring done and a new sink, toilet, etc put in. After they had all of that done, Bathfitters came in and did their bathtub and walls around the tub. I believe it was around $1500 for that, but I may be a touch off.

Both tubs look great and you'd never know it wasn't an insert or just a nice white tub. They even do showers too.

We used them 2 years ago. We had the tub and surround done for about $1300.00. Couldn't be happier.

I had priced out the cost of a new tub, etc. and this was by far the most reasonable.

Two years later and it's still a breeze to clean.

HOLY COW! I priced Bathfitters a few months ago and they wanted $3300 for a tub and surround insert! We are renovating now. DH just replaced both toilets and put in new floors. We are still looking for a good tub and surround price. S

We had bath Fitter do our bathroom 2 years ago. I think it was close to $2000, maybe $3,000. can't remember.

I love it though so much easier then cleaning grout. It looks like white tile and they are the only tub surround people that can bend around the corners.

You almost have to do the tub if you do the surround because the whites are so different, there was nothing wrong with our tub but when they did the walls it looked really old and yellow.

We would do it again. I want my other bathroom done. It is a lot of money but will last a long time.

That was the price I was quoted too. We ended up using bathmaster -- from a local operator. (bathmaster.com) They were $2,400 including a ceiling insert. The main difference is they do separate pieces for their insert instead of a seamless surround like Bathfitters... but for an extra $1000? ... I'm just happy to be rid of my 80s brown tub and tile.

It's not perfect, I see some flaws... but I've been through a full bath remodel before, and didn't want to put up with more mess for the kids' bath.

I wanted to add that they would also reglaze which is a far cheaper route and an option if you want to just reglaze the tub and add a new surround. I was changing out the brass components (boot or whatever it's called) so I couldn't go the reglaze option.

Got a quote from them a couple of months back. It was for $1100 for just the tub. Have been sitting with it still deciding what to do. That's alot of money that is NOT going into my disney vacation fund.

I hadn't thought about how a new white tub would make my exsisting tiles look dull though. Great. Now that is even more money that won't make it into my fund.:sad2:

We used Bathfitters two or three years ago. I thought it was pretty pricey at the time. I can't remember the exact amount - $1600 - $1900 I think. However, I was thrilled with the results. We got tub, marbleized look surround and ceiling. The work was completed in one day and it still looks great. We were told to try to keep the area around the tub dry to prevent mold and that has worked. We just give it a quick swipe around the edge with a sponge after showering and so far so good.

We had new flooring installed, we painted and installed a new toilet, cabinet, pedestal sink, and mirror and we've got a brand new up-to-date bathroom.
