Hubby got some for me, not impressed, plus I had to arrange. They lasted two days, then pbbttt..... Would have been better off with a bouquet from Wallyworld.....
I used them once for my MIL for mother's day based on the recommendation of a guy I worked with. My MIL said the flowers didn't last very long and I think she felt it was as nice having to put them in a vase herself.
They do sometimes use a local florist. If you need delivery for today or if you order after a certain time today for delivery tomorrow it will go through a local florist. They'll use their "sister site", FloristExpress, which is really going through a local florist.
I've always been fairly happy with proflowers until our last order in May. The roses had tiny heads and died within a few days. No excuse for them to be that way, I accepted the delivery so they didn't sit around. Just bad roses.
Actually it's DH who uses them when he's ordering for me. When I am sending roses I use: http://www.freshroses.com/flowers.html . I first found them when I was planning my wedding and they came highly recommended for people doing their own bouquets. I've used them several times now to send rose bouquets. They send like Proflowers does -- fedex, vase separate -- but tend to be cheaper and the roses are pretty and sturdy as anything.
I finally received a refund, but as with most companies, you don't always reach customer service reps that are willing to go above and beyond to make the situation right. After two dead shipments, and spending too long on the phone, I didn't want to deal with them again, wanted my money back, and the several reps I spoke to were not very helpful. They were just pushing yet another order.
