Hi I am thinking of getting a 2008 town&countryLX minivan, 40k mi for $13,700 does this seem like a good price? I dont know much about minivans but I really want one for the kids. Are they reliable? I would like for it to last for 6 yrs? so to around 106k miles? Any advice would be appreciated :)

That seems like a pretty good price. I have a Toyota Sienna and I love it. It is a 98 and with very little up keep it is still running great. My friend is a Honda guy and swears by the Odyse So I guess it will just depend on who you ask. If you have not already done so, check out consumer reports and ratings.

I had a 2005 T&C. Traded it a year ago for a 2009 Odyssey. I loved the features of the T&C, but it wasn't a great vehicle, operation-wise. I was constantly getting stuff fixed on it, like the power-sliding doors, the tailgate... It was much roomier, though, than what I have now. But I do love my Honda.

I have a 2006 T & C, other than routine maintenance, the only thing i've had to have done to it is a water pump. It has 65,000 miles on it right now.

I have an '08 T&C, Signature Series. I LOVE it. I swore I would never drive a minivan, but now I'm a convert and won't go back to anything else. We haven't had any problems with it in the year and a half we've owned it, but it's only got 23k miles on it. Have you test drove it? That was what sealed the deal for me. :thumbsup2

I own a 08 T&C Touring since new have 69,800 miles and have only had 1set of front brakes and oil changes every 3000 miles and have had no problems at all. This is the 3rd T&C in the last 18 years.
Never a problem of any kind. Drive to WDW twice a year.:cool1:

I have a 2005 T&C. It has about 60K miles on it. Overall I am pretty pleased. We did have to have the doors fixed once, but it was under warranty. We also had a few stereo problems with the 6 CD changer...seems to act up in hot weather and cold weather. Our batter just died so we replaced it. Knock wood, we have had pretty good luck with it. DS has a Honda the same age and had to have her transmission replaced already...good luck!

We have a 2005 TandC - had it since June 2008 - had no problems with it until I was hit by a red light runner and the back wheel fell off (among other things). Several thousand dollars later, it now has a 2007 rear end, and I love it just as much. :)

I had a 2005 T&C Limited (loaded with everything-heated seats, dvd player, navigator, etc) and something was always tearing up. First it was the windows, then the auto sliding doors...ugh, I loved the van overall, but stuff like that urkes me. I have since traded for a new Chevy Equinox and I am loving it, the only electric items is the windows, door locks, and mirrors :)

We have a 2003 Town and Country. It is at about 107,000 miles right now. You will never hear anything but good things from us. So far, our T & C has driven from Alaska to Florida, MA to FL roundtrip, MA to CA, CA to AL and way too many trips to count in between. We have only had to perform minor maint. The motor to the window went out this past year. That costs about $100 to replace. We have never had major issues.

I bought a 2008 T&C with 13,500 miles for about $15,000...so far no problems and we love it!

wow that is a good price :) I ended up getting a 08grand caravan It had like 20k less miles, and was one thousand more but I liked all the features, the T&C was the base model with 47kmi. I cant even believe I bought a minivan(I said I never would) but even my husband liked it (and he swore he wouldn't)

We own a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Pretty much the same car as the T&C, with the exception of the trim packages. We love it, and haven't had any problems besides a small electrical issue with the power sliding door.

Keep in mind that the 2008 model year was the first year Dodge/Chrysler switched to the newer, more angular/boxy body style. As with any new design, the company has worked out many of the minor kinks (mostly fit and finish issues, not so much mechanical) with the introduction of the '09 and '10 model years.

One question to DEFINITELY ask your dealer, especially with pre-owned minivans, is where the car came from. Was it a private lease, or was it a "program car"? A lot of pre-owned mini-vans that are around 2 years old or so are coming off of a rental assignment. Dealers use the term "program car" as a blanket statement to cover rental companies, limo use, corporate use, etc. Try to determine the prior use of the car, as that may impact your decision. (I know my right foot has a tendancy to be a little heavier in a rental car, as are many others'....and I think many people would agree that you don't pamper rental cars quite the same way you do your own)

If it is a program car, be sure to take extended warranties that cover beyond the manufacturer's standard coverage. If the dealership won't offer it to you, don't buy from them.

I have a 2008 T&C LX. I absolutely LOVE it. It is a great van with lots of wonderful features.

I am looking at a new 2010 T&C and the sliding doors scare me. Has anyone's little fingers got caught up in the door when it closes? It take quite a bit of force to stop the door from moving and I am scared of the auto door with little hands.

I have a 3 year old and the doors on our 2008 have an auto stop feature - if anything obstructs them they stop.

I have a 2005 T&C LX, and other than routine stuff(brakes, tires, oil changes), it runs great. I don't have power doors so no problem there. I LOVE the stowaway seats--that feature is worth its weight in gold!:thumbsup2

I have an T&C bought it new in 01 and have loved it everyday since, its now got 119,000 miles and only routine maintenace and a leak in our antifreeze line, old bessy is still running strong and hope she does for a long while, the outside does not have any rust other than a quarter size spot above the wheel in rear.

I was always anti-minivan. Not cool enough for me. Heck, I didn't even want a 4-door vehicle. Three kids, carseats, and sports equipment (I coach softball & soccer) made us decide we needed something bigger than we had. I've had my 2006 T&C Touring for 2 years now and absolutely love it!
