OT!!Am & right or Wrong?

Anything could happen between the time you think you can take her and this oppurtunity for her. Illness,finances and all sorts of other things. I would let her go, you never know what the future will hold and it is best to seize oppurtunities as they come along. Also I have been to DC twice and haven't even begun to see 1/10th of what I want to see, just one smithsonian museum could take an entire day. There will be plenty of new experiences for you and her to do together when your trip happens

My thoughts exactly. I was diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago. Life is too short, and you don't know what the future holds. Be thankful you have a very generous offer from your sister, and let your daughter go. DC has sooo much to see; when you go with her in the future, it will be a totally different experience for her.

I had another thought that hasn't been mentioned by anyone. Maybe this isn't an issue for you, but my kids wouldn't have been comfortable being away from Mom and Dad for an extended period at age 8. Maybe they are close enough to your sister that this isn't an issue for you, but I can't imagine my 8yo going on vacation for a week with my sister. It would be very hard for him.

There is so much to do in Washington I think even if you send her that if you go back with her there is so much you can still do that she hasn't done yet. I probably would send my dd but it is a personal thing you are not selfesh if you don't.

I would send her - I am of the thought that you need to grab opportunities when you can.

My daughter was invited to NYC awhile back with another family and she went with them...we ended up going a few months later as a family. Our trips were totally different so she really got alot of different activities in getting to go twice plus she wanted to share a few things she did on the first trip with us.
