Hi,

We are going to Alpine Lake RV Resort at the end of July. We booked site number 76. We have a pop-up without a shower and 3 ds's ages 6, 6, and 4. We'd like to be reasonably close to the showers and not on the water. Any thoughts on our site selection (we've never been)??

Also, we have friends staying in Hadley. It looks like it's under 30 minutes to Hadley. Is that about right?

I don't think Hadley is more than 15 minutes...if that far away from Alpine.
I am not sure about site 76..I will be up there the end of this month and will check out the site number for you ...let you know about it.
Alpine is a nice RV Resort...conveniently located between both Saratoga and Lake George. They offer trolley transportation to both spots on weekends. New owners there for this year( they actually purchased the resort the end of last season)...same company that owns Tropical Palms in Fla.
I do see on the map that your site is at the end of a row..which is better since they can be close together in some areas...but I don't think it is there. I do see it's near a restroom...but the showers are located in the Laudry/Shower building. You are also pretty close to the really nice new playground area. It isn't even on the map I have..but it is located right near the showers/Laundry also.
Also...the directions they give you to the campground are from the Northway..for when you are trailering..to make things easier..no turns or hills..you will pass the area for Saratoga..the historic town and race track..but if you are looking to get over to the Lake George area...no need to go all the way back to the Northway...there are local roads that take you over the river to Aviation Rd...which brings you right to RT.9 where all the Lake George attractions are located. Be sure to ask at the office for directions if you need to get over to that area. ( or you can pm me)...There are rowboat and kayak rentals at Alpine if you don't have your own. There is also fishing and swiming in their lakes. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

We just picked up our first travel trailer today! We live about 45 minutes from Alpine Lake and plan on going there for local trips. DH's brother recommends it and it's nice to see that others like it too.

Congratulations on the new RV! What did you get..if you don't mind my asking...and I'm also wondering if you used a dealer local to your area. We are thinking of trading ours in this year..we were seasonal last year at Alpine Lake..so we left it there on site. Personally, I wish we had brought it home..I'd like to be using it now..and missed it!..In any case..we have a Jayco Eagle..a 2000 and were looking at some of the newer models. We wanted to get over to Albany RV and I wondered since you live in the area if you had any experience with them?

We actually bought our TT from Albany RV! They've been great so far!

The only other experience we have with RV dealerships is Alpinhaus. Once Alpinhaus found out our budget and that we were looking for used, they couldn't be bothered to show us anything. We finally got one saleman to help up and he showed us some really bad/old units.

Our experience with Albany RV has been completely different. We went to one of their shows and told a salesperson our budget and needs. They called back a couple of weeks later saying that a TT came in that might suit our needs.

We bought a 2003 Coachmen 270BH. It has a queen walk-around bed in front, and bunks in back that has a twin over full. It also has a couch that converts into a bed and I dinette that does as well. Can you tell that I'm excited! :Pinkbounc We were able to get it for $10,500 (I hope it's not too tacky talking about price), which according to what I've read is pretty good. DD and DS want to sleep in it tonight. I managed to convince them that we could wait until this weekend to camp in the driveway.

Maybe you could help me with a question about Alpine Lakes. Do you know when they open for the season? I looked on their website, but I didn't see any dates.

I'm so glad to hear you had a good experience with Albany RV. Since this is who carries the Jayco line in the area and we thought we stop in and see what they might have now. I hate the whole idea of dealing with salespeople and RV's. This is our first trailer..so we didn't have to worry about a trade..now we are looking to trade this in..as frankly we don't want to be bothered selling it privately. We will if we have to..not going to give it away thats for sure. Your unit sounds great..lots of good times ahead in for you! :thumbsup2
As for Alpine Lake they open officially for the season on May 1st..at least that's what we've been told. We are seasonal and it seems they are letting the seasonals in a day or two early.

Thank you for all this info! I'm feeling more at ease about Alpine. I'm always afraid to try new campgrounds. It's always nice to get a recommendation.
