I know the Pinnacle Ridge winery is near Kutztown, but you are not going to find any hotels there. I agree with the PP about looking towards Reading. I know there is a small motel off of 78 on the way to Kutztown that I pass when I take my son back to Kutztown Univ. Can't think of the name of it though. Bashore & Stoudt has great fruit wines.

The winetrail website lists the Sheraton in Reading, but there are other nice hotels in Reading. You might even be able to add in some shopping at the Reading Outlets http://www.vfoutletcenter.com/

http://www.berkscountywinetrail.com/transportation.htm

There is a map on the winetrail website that may help narrow down the search. It looks like one of the wineries is near Mertztown which would include the B&B's that loveysbydesign listed
Biddingfortravel.com lists a few hotels in the Reading area:

3 Star
Sheraton Reading
Wyndham Abraham Lincoln

2.5 Star
Inn at Reading

2 Star
Days Inn Reading Wyomissing (formerly Wellesley Inn and Suites) LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW
Holiday Inn Express & Suites
Comfort Inn Reading

You may want to consider Naming Your own Price on Priceline to get a good deal on a room in the Reading area. There is a posting on the biddingfortravel.com list that someone just got the Wyndham for $49 a night.

The Sheraton Reading is decent...if it's the one I'm thinking about, it's off of 222, but not IN Reading itself. You want to stay out of Center City Reading...it's not the safest area to be. :scared1: Wyomissing is pretty nice and suburban, so that might be a good choice.

LOL. I work over in Bethlehem now, if they are still there, maybe I can pick them up some day! I didn't know you left them at the store, that's funny!

Jessica,
are you interested in a Rescue Heroes Aquatic Command Center? I have one in my attic that I want to get rid of. I would just need to clean it up...it's probably covered in dust. My DS10 wasn't ready to get rid of it for the longest time, but he probably hasn't touched it since he was 5! If you want it, it's yours...

I work in Wyomissing...so the Sheraton is a good choice. Nice area. There is also a Hampton Inn right across the street that is always packed. There is also a Homewood Suites that is really nice too...that is right next to a large shopping center. The Days Inn is here too, but it is pretty old. I would stick to one of those 4....Downtown Reading isn't the nicest place.

ETA: Just realized the Sheraton changed its name. I think it is the Crown Plaza Reading or something like that.

Hmmm...What does that look like? My mom has some really big Rescue Hero thing at her house, but I don't know what it is called. If we don't already have it, I'd love it! If I do have it then loveys can snag it!

Hmmm... We live in Allentown, and I really want to be of help, but I'm not sure how much I can be.

I don't know of any B&B's in the area, per se. I do remember a friend of mine saying something about going with her dh to a place called the Glassburn Inn(sp?). If you want a budget-friendly hotel , though, there is a Comfort Inn & Suites on Hamilton Blvd. in Allentown.

As far as places to eat, we like Melt, which is located in the Promenade shops off of nearby Rte. 78. There's also the King George Inn, which is located on Hamilton Blvd. in Allentown. And if you like Italian there's Carraba's on Cedar Crest Blvd.

Sorry, I am drawing a blank on the sightseeing one. HTH http://www.lehighvalleypa.org/

I live on the outskirts and I am sitting here thinking....wow....people visit here. I cannot help with the hotel thing.....there are many Hiltons/comfort suites etc around. There is a holiday inn express across from Dorney park which seems nice. If you google Dorney, I am sure the hotel partners are on there.

I like Buca DePepa (spelling) which is a family style italian restaurant in Whitehall. As far as super nice places to go, I cannot suggest any since we never patron them.

I live in Oley Valley. I have gone on the berks county wine tours several times including the wine and chocolate event valentines weekend. Oley is located 45 min from King of Prussia not sure where in NJ you are. My recommendation for a romantic getaway would be www.yellowhousehotel.com It is a bed and breakfast and upscale restaurant. This is also down the road from one of our favorite wineries Manatawny Creek they are on the berks county wine trail. As far as the wine trail because this event is not ticketed like some so it gets crazy busy. I recommend the following wineries as must tastes: Manatawny Creek, Pinnacle Ridge, Clover hill and Long trout. The lehigh valley also has a wine trail and has vynecrest and the main branch of clover hill about 35 min from oley which is 10min from yellowhouse. As far as what else to do in reading........ We have a museum in west reading that was recently renovated and always has interesting special showings along with having a planetarium. There is also the pagoda at the top of mt penn where m n shyamalan recently shot scenes for an upcoming movie. As always there are the VF factory outlets and designers place although my favorite place to shop is on 422 at the philadelphia preimum outlets. Hope this helps any other questions just let me know.:)

Another Bethlehem person here....Another suggestion while you're in the area is to go to the Sands Casino...also some restaurants there....although not really budget. There are quite a few cute places downtown Bethlehem also.
Maybe search trip advisor and see what they say. We live right up the hill from Sayre Mansion. Beautiful place but I'm not sure how prices. Hotel Bethlehem is also pretty neat!

BTW, if you're looking for somewhere to eat ..check out restaurants.com. They sell discounted gift certificates for restaurant. Just search the city you are looking for and it will bring up the restaurants. I know Starfish Brasserie is on there right now.

I will have to second King George Inn, the food is great and it dates back to the late 1700's

It's not a bed and breakfast, but if you're looking for a nice hotel that is budget, I would suggest the Best Western in Shillington. It was renovated last year I think and it is very nice inside, clean, decorated nicely, comfy beds, free breakfast and cheap. My family stays there when they come to visit and can often get rates for $60/night. If you have an entertainment card, look on their travel site for rates.

As far as other chain hotels go my family has liked the Holiday Inn Express by the airport, Homewood Suites and Country Inn and Suites.

I agree you should probably stay in Berks county if your wine trail is here, Allentown is kind of far.

I'll have to think about restaurants. There are just so many. Check out the berkswebs site to read reviews of any you might be interested in.

Hello!
We live in Boyertown, and did the Berks wine and choc. tour last year. As we have little ones, we only went to 3-4 closest wineries, but had a great time doing it. We esp. liked the Manatawny Creek Winery and the one near Oley. There is a B&B right here in Boyertown called Twin Turrets, its very nice, and I don't think too expensive. It is about 15- 20 minutes from several wineries on the tour, others would be farther. Good luck-have fun!:hippie:
