Hi everyone,

I am planning a trip in October, but have not completely nailed down my dates. Well, I got an email from one of the the local discount airlines about 50% off flights. After checking it out, it will be about $85 roundtrip before taxes per person!!!!!:woohoo:
The carrier flies into Orlando/Sanford.
I have always gone into MCO and have lately taken advantage of ME so that I would not have to get a car.
Anyway, How long would it take to get from Orlando/Sanford to property, and anyone know about how much for a taxi or shuttle?

Thanks

That's a nice price. I'd post this on the transportation board (http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16) I'm sure they've answered it a few times already over there...
(I once got $92 per person round trip at AirTran. I think their website was broken because I've never seen prices even close to that low before or since. I booked those seats as fast as my little fingers could type!)

I've never done flown into Sanford, but I've checked into before and I think it's like 45 minutes from there to Disney. I use a town car service instead of ME to get to and from MCO and they also provide service from Sanford to Disney, so I checked and it'd be $180 round trip, plus a tip, for the town car, probably not much cheaper in a taxi and I'm sorry but I don't know if there are shuttles to Disney at Sandford.

Sanford is a lovely, easy airport to travel from. It's farther away than MCO, but you will likely spend less time getting your luggage and getting your car rental since its a smaller airport. Shorter lines at security on your way home too!

Thanks

I was looking at the Sanford site, and there are a couple of companies listed under shuttles for transportation - one of them being Mears. However I obviously don't know if it is run like a real shuttle like they have from MCO. I am going to call tomorrow and see what I can find out - a shuttle would be nice because it would be cheaper than getting a taxi, and I don't really need a car for ten days since we rarely leave property.

I will check out the trasportation board too.......I actually didn't think of that:laughing:

This is lookiong better!

I called about shuttle service from Sanford....
American Coach is the only company that the airport listed to me, but I received an estimate from Orlando carriers as well

American Coach 407-826-9999 7a-7p $32 per person 7p-7a $60

Orlando Carriers 407-936-0513 9a-7p $72 7p-9a $60

Each of these are for one way fare and all stated a need for prior reservations.

If you can afford to burn the xtra time, the 45-55 min ride from and back to the airport it is well worth it. I live in daytona beach and fly out of sanford all the time because Allegiant Air is so much cheaper. The airport is less crowded and it is a straight shot to disney from there you pull out of the airport and just hop on 417(toll road) and right straight to disney

:scared1: I can't make up my mind :scared1:

I don't know if I am going to book the sale flight anymore because I don;t know that in the long run it actually saves me any money....
here is my math....

flight after taxes $132 + $80 for baggage ($20 per bag per route) =212....
212 + $32 each way for shuttle = 276 per person

Flights from my normal airport into MCO are running 268 right now, and that gets me ME so no cost with transportation......only this requires a layover when flying into Sanford gets me a direct flight..........

I have two more days to decide before the sale is over......decisions, decisions. I think right now I may end up doing the normal fly into MCO....but I hate layovers.....ahhhhhhh

If the prices are that close, you may want to go back to MCO.

Are we talking about Allegiant? Although I have never had any problems, they are a charter airline and have different rules than the major carriers. If there is a mechanical issue, they aren't going to put you on another carrier, and you will likely not flight out until the next day. Personally, if there is a huge savings of time or money, I will take Allegiant, but if its this close, and your layover is manageable, you may be better off to go with the carrier that takes you to MCO.

Hope that didn't make it harder!

Yeah, that is what I think I am going to do - go back to MCO.
The deal was from Direct Air...I have been asking around at work, and I haven't been able to find anyone that has flown them before....anyway, like you said, with it being so close I think I am going to stick with going into MCO just because of all the additional cost that take away any savings on the flight.
