ot- advice please, paperwork name error

going in two weeks.
Just noticed in out paper work my sons (1) name on ticket has his double barreled surname as middle name.. not how it is on passport. so rung fleetway to ask.

I assumed she would say, no prob will correct anme and new paperowrk would be sent out, but its actually a huge problem, and she is saying now his ticket is invalid with air france. and they are going to listen over phonecall... if i didnt make the name clear i will have to pay for a whole new ticket....

this was at 10am... and i ahve not heard anything, been crying all morning, terrified as this holiday is everything to us, we sold lots of family books etc to afford it etc, i cant this.

she is making it sound on phone like whole holiday will be cancelled... or possibility milo wouldnt be able to go... so whole holiday would be cancelled. and that i will have to pay for new ticket... i am just so confused,

i rang back.. and got sent a message to be patient as she was waiting to hear back from disneyland paris?? why?? i thought problem was with air france. we go in two weeks... even if i pay the extra.. for a mistake i dont see as mine! I am one surname, partner is other surname... kind of obvious the name was double barreled... not a middle name :(

i feel so upset... anyone got any idea.. whats going on? am i going to loose holiday over this? i am distraught.
 
Personally I would phone back Fleetway and firmly ask to speak to the manager. Regardless of what was on the phone call, it's an obvious error on their part. You would hardly have specified it was his middle name and since they would already have recorded yours and your partner's surnames, making your son's name double-barrelled is a bit of a no-brainer.
 
I have no advice for you, but wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about all this, and how upset its making you :hug: .

I'm sure you will all get there in the end, your holiday won't have to be cancelled.
 
How are you actually getting there? if it is by plane then phone the airline & see what they say, same if it is by Eurostar.

The hotel won't be worried about the name as the child will not even be named on their documents.

That's a really good point. As Milo is 1, he doesn't count towards anything, same as my daughter Emilia who is the same age. The only reason DLP might be involved is that the flights might be part of a package with them. How much is a flight for an infant sitting on a lap rather than a seat? Can't be too much, surely?
 
thank you everyone. will give them an hour or two to ring me... then i will ring them.. and i will ask all those questions. if they try and charge me, then i will def fight the point that... its kind of obvious... and if in doubt.. she should have asked
 
If Air France have voided that ticket, then that's extremely harsh.

Eurostar made a huge pig's ear of our tickets (with 2 people's names being spelt wrongly), but when we phone them to get it corrected, they just said "ok, we'll correct our computer records, but won't bother sending new tickets because it's just a minor problem".

Hopefully this will be something similar - I certainly think charging you would be out of order and if it happened to me, I would be thinking about not using that travel company again if at all possible.

i just cant believe it. spent all yesturday planning etc... then today feel everything is crushing down. I have had a panic attack over this. Feel so upset. and they wont ring back! when ever i ring, and even ask to speak to someone else they just say... we will ring you. You would think that by booking direct through disney, you wouldnt that this. Though its fleetway travel that are causing this
 
I booked my flights via Airmiles with Flybe online and received all documentation through within 48 hours. I honestly can't see any reason why AirFrance can't sort out a minor problem like this out in the same time frame and most definately within the 2 week period you have left to go. Isn't this why faxes and emails are so popular ?
Whilst your sitting at home chewing your nails and worrying, your problem is logged down and will be dealt with sometime.
I'm assuming it's Fleetway travel that you're ringing and not getting anywhere with I don't really think Disney will be able to help as it's booked through a Tour Operator and not with them direct but I would definately phone Air France myself, do you have your flight numbers etc. ? explain the problem to them direct at the very least you should find out just how much of a problem this is, I think the person you've spoken to is over reacting.

Fleetway travel just rang! a different girl. said.. have just had your paperwork sent to me, not a problem, disney will change details on system.. but you wont need to worry about getting new tickets.... we wont charge you...


i was in shock... just said... so its all fine... and i am not getting charged.


she said no.

Why did that woman put me through hell! she was rude and made me feel that they wouldnt even let him travel now.. and that it would cost me a fortune etc!!

but i wont whinge as its all ok!!!!!!!! yipppee!!!

right offf for another cry now! hahaha

Excellent news, I'm so glad it's been sorted today. I had a feeling you'd been given the wrong info. as I remembered another post, which I had just managed to find, where another DISer noticed a wrong name the day before they were due to fly with Air France, and they were charged £30 for the name change - not ideal but the holiday was saved.

Now you can relax and start daydreaming about your trip again. :yay:

i would complain to management about the rude lady, shes prob having an off day and you were in the firing line

i am so happy for you that is great.

i am not the complaining type but i would write a letter or send an email stating how this woman made the whole thing so stressful for you. i know if it happened to me i wouldnt use that company again

but anyway yey back to planning lol
 
yes... maybe your right... maybe i should. when i said.. could this affect my whole holiday, she said "yes.. it's very serious". and it wasn't. Was not nice to put someone through that.

but yes.. on with planning... still trying to work out if anywhere does jacket potatoes at dlp! hahaha
 
Brilliant news! I am so pleased everything is ok. I still think it's worth contacting their Customer Relations department and making a formal complaint about the information you were given and the way you were treated. She should realise that off-the-cuff remarks can make people worry!

Glad you got everything sorted out. We had the same problem when my mother in law bought our tickets to go to visit her in Geneva. She spelt one name imcorrectly and we had to be back and forth on the phone to Easyjet till it was sorted out. It's very stressful but it's all over now and you can enjoy planning your trip!:)
