probably can not afford wdw this yr so we are thinking of seeing some of the other sites in Fl...considering staying( 16x14 cabin tent) at Sebastian Inlet state park on the east coast...anyone ever stayed there? i've been to that park but never saw the campground there....or any other nice places on the ocean pref. with waterfront camping...my prime concerns are clean bathrooms... as in no giant spiders waiting to drop on you.... with flush toilets and showers and since the drive from OH is far and we can only have 9 or 10 days total, probably not much farther south than vero beach area on either coast( so the everglades/keys are to far)...we like to do easy hikes, photography, sketching, visit gardens/bird/nature type areas.... basically pretty boring but relaxing things to do :lmao: and it's gotta be cheapish;) probably for Nov.

There is a great campsite called Jetty Park campground, right on the ocean, right near Cape Canaverel. If you plan it near a launch you're also in one of the prime viewing locations for shuttle/rocket launches. It's right on the water, a friend of mine was just telling me about it the other day.

Was voted number one non-State Park/non National-Park campground by Camping Life magazine, so it's gotta be doing something right ;)

And here is the Jetty Park campground website....

They have flush toilets and hot showers, tackle shops, 24 hour security, pretty much a totally fully stocked campsite. I never knew about this one until the other day when a friend recommended it, after researching it, it seems to be one of the favorites on the east coast of Florida.

You can also watch the cruise ships come & go lots of fun. There are lots of places to eat, go deep sea fishing, coco beach ron jons are only about 10 miles away. Enjoy youselfs.

Yet another recommendation for the park, this might become one of my favorites!

Ditto on Jetty Park, but get your reservation in quick, they fill up. And it's only a little over an hour from DisneyWorld.

If you want to be on the beach-I would suggest Anastasia SP($23 a night). You're right by the lighthouse and the Ft. is a few miles away. It fills up fast too. I would take Anastasia over Sebastian inlet (not much around you) ($20 a night). We've been there twice -no shade and i didn't care for the bathrooms. If you consider the west coast-Ft. DESOTO in Pinellas County park is great and on the beach. It too fills up fast. $25 a night -it's on an island around a nice area. if you're looking for a campgrounds/SP closer to orlando I like Weikiva Springs SP ($20) it's in Longwood or Turkey Lake Park.

Not a coastal campground- A great State park off of I-75 in high Springs (just north of gainesville) is O'leno SP. $15 a night (Mangolia section). Bathrooms are nice and the area is beautiful. It's my favorite SP and it's the cheapest too. Another non-coastal campground is Paynes Prairie in Miconopy just south of gainesville off of I-75 ($15 a night).

Hope this helps!:goodvibes

What Sunshine said!!!
Agree with all of the above. Sebastian is better in the summer if you like to surf or boogie board.

O' Leno is very nice indeed, and a favorite of my family, along with the ones mentioned, Anastasia, Wekiwa, Fort de Soto, and Paynes.

Hope you have a great vacation!:cool2:

Does anyone know if there are any campgrounds other than SP around Orlando that are nice?? We are considering camping somewhere around the area if we can't get our 7 nights in at FW.

Does anyone know if FL SP's have sewer hook up??? Here in South Carolina and Georgia they do not. Staying 7 nights would prefer sewer over having to tow the portatank.

thanks all
husband was set on sebastian so i got 4 nights there and hoping for a few more in Anastasia or jetty park if we can stay longer than a week.

were the bathrooms in sebastian dirty or just needed updating or what? dirty bathrooms freak me out and since we are tenting not much choice but to use them.

dirty and updating :sad2: I think the kids from the beach (non-campers) run :confused3 through there. The campgrounds is in between the boat ramp and the fishers under the overpass.
Oleno SP bathrooms are the best-they even have heat lights in the winter months! (especially good when the bathrooms in all Fl sp aren't heated or air conditioned)

Anastasia sp in Coquina the closest loop to the beach site #129 if you can get it. for future reference...:thumbsup2

enjoy your trip....

Ft. DeSoto County Park in Pinellas (Tampa) go with Area 3 (most of area 3 has the larger sites)-not the best bathrooms but the area is totally worth it.
another future trip tip....get it trip tip-:rotfl: I'll stop while i'm ahead :confused3
