Day 4 - Tuesday 8/27
Checked out of Holiday Inn Family Suites (HIFS), checked in to Polynesian. Requested Tokelau, got Tahiti. (CM: "We're putting you in Tahiti, they'll be happy to see you over there, it's been kind of empty lately.") Beautiful room, lovely garden view, 3rd floor. 5 thumbs up, even from "the executive" (DH).
Plan called for MGM. Family called for a deviation. Spent the day at Typhoon Lagoon. This was the highlight of our trip. We loved the atmosphere, the music, the waves, the freezing shark reef. (TIP: Take a few waterproof disposable cameras.) The lazy river was fun, the wave pool was great. Ate chicken sandwiches and French fries. (WARNING! We heard from another "guest" that one guy left his hamburger and fries on the table to go back and get ketchup and before he got back the birds had taken his entire lunch away.) Coulda stayed longer but we had to get back for ENIGHT.
Got to Magic Kingdom about 5:00 PM (park closed at 7:00 PM). Exchanged our tickets for wristbands. They wouldn't let me keep the tickets for my scrapbook. DH, DS-11, DS-9 went on Space Mountain (no line) twice. Then the menfolk spent about half hour in the Tomorrowland arcade. The Tomorrowland Speedway was closed for Enight ??? (Huge disappointment, but extreme relief we had waited 30 minutes for it on Sunday night.)
Went back to Tomorrowland Transit Authority (walk-on, loved it). Went to Buzz Lightyear (briefly stalled for some reason). But once repaired, no wait. DS-6 loved this best. DS-6 and I repeated our "Scout" level performances, while DH, DS-11, and DS-9 went on Space Mountain two more times. (Think they liked it?) At this point it was dark. Scooted over to Haunted Mansion (ME: "Hey, let's do it in the dark!" THEM: "NO WAY!") Took the chickens to Splash Mountain instead. DS-11, DS-9 and I went on. Jogged through the exceptionally long queueing area to hop right in the boat. Broke down somewhere just past the Laughing Place for about 5 minutes. The longest line was for the photo. Wanted it but no way I was going to wait 30 minutes for it. DH, DS-11, DS-9 walked on to Big Thunder Mountain twice. Then we left, about 9:15.
Swam at the Volcano pool until 11PM.
