I'm rooting for Little Miss Sunshine this year...great film and a lot of noms! I'd love to see the kid win (Abigail) but I think it'll be Jennifer Hudson will win it. AMAZED Dreamgirls got shut out! for Best pic and Best director

Do you have a link to them? i cant seem to find them. :confused3

I'm SO happy that Ryan Gosling got a nod!!!

*sniffle*

All my MMC kids are taking over the world!!:yay:

Can't find a link yet...IU was watching it live on the Today show

Yay for Abigail Breslin, 10 years old!!!!! I loved Little Miss Sunshine!

Did anyone notice that Jackie Earle Haley was nominated for Best Supporting Actor? Remember him from "Bad News Bears?"

I am rooting for "Little Miss Sunshine" as well!!!!:thumbsup2 - and Jennifer Hudson!

not getting my hopes up too high for "LMS", but I will keep my fingers crossed!!!!!!

I remember him from Breaking Away! I thought it was great to see him nominated also, even though I didn't see his movie.

I suspect shutting out Dreamgirls from the top two awards is related to Chicago winning best picture. Many feel that ranks up there with the biggest Osacar mistakes ever.

Jennifer Hudson is in shock. I was surprised that Dreamgirls didn't get best picture.

And talk about a blast from the past. I didn't know that Jackie Early Haley was still acting.

Etnertainment Weekly had a great article on hims not too long ago. Interesting guy and it's a big surprise to see him nominated.

I just watched Little Miss Sunshine this past weekend. It was a GREAT movie. Very simple. Very well-acted (by everyone - I'm surprised that Steve Carrell didn't get nominated). Feel-good message(s) without being sappy.

I highly recommend it and will be cheering for it to win!

I'm rooting for Abigail Breslin as the upset for Best Supporting Actress. Can you imagine Dakota Fanning in that role? No way! That girl was awesome. I vote for "Little Miss Sunshine" all the way. That movie really touched me in a twisted kind of way.:lmao: Loved it!

Little Miss Sunshine is MY FAVORITE movie this year!:thumbsup2 That kid was amazing in in!

I'm glad Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench were nominated for Notes on a Scandal. They were amazing in it. Judi Dench was creepy

I'm kind of disappointed in the best actor category. Some pretty odd choices for nominations.

Where is Toni Collette and Greg Kinnear for LMS? These are two of the most underated actors in the business.....SO disappointed to see their names on the list, ESPECIALLY Toni Collette. :( :(

I just wished they had cut the "f" word out of Little Miss Sunshine to get a PG-13 rating. DD14 managed to sneak into the room when we were watching the DVD and she loved it. She said "I hear that word all the time on the school bus!"

Some random thoughts on the Oscar noms...

I was glad to see Jackie Earle Haley get nominated. Great article on him in EW a few weeks ago. Now I just gotta see the movie;)

Happy to see Abigail Breslin and Alan Arkin get nods for Little Miss Sunshine. Hope they both win.

I admit I'm a little one-sided on movies. I'm a guy, so movies like "The Queen" look awfully boring to me. You, dear reader, may feel exactly the same about "The Departed". This is why they make multiplexes, huh?

You'd have to drug me like Alma did Orson on Desperate Housewive in order for me to watch Dreamgirls. So disappointment over Dreamgirls being left out of the BP category is lost on me.

Why no nomination for Sacha Baron Cohen? :confused3

Why no nomination for Daniel Craig in Casino Royale? :confused3 Everything I read from critics at the time of its release raved about Craig (and I agree with those reviews). I totally get the Academy's historic disdain for action films, but still....

FINALLY, the brilliant director Martin Scorcese looks like a front runner to win the Best Direcetor's Oscar. I love his work and hope that this is his year.

I haven't seen the movie--but in the reviews I have read, the movie at best has gotten 2 or 2.5 stars. Jennifer Hudson was the breakout role and Eddie Murphy did well, but according to reviews, the rest of the movie just wasn't that great....or as great as it could have been. So I am not really surprised.
