Osbourne merry & bright dessert Party

Jumping in to see how this goes because I just ordered tickets with the plan of making a final decision based on early reviews. It is expensive, but since neither my 7yo nor my mother do well in dense crowds I'm thinking it might be worth the price. We did enjoy the drinks and desserts at the Frozen party this summer so that part isn't totally lost on us, but you can buy a lot of cupcakes and wine for the $315 that party tickets cost for the five of us!

We did the Frozen themed party last year on the first night of the Osborne Family Lights. We had never done a Disney party before or seen the lights. The viewing for the lights was pretty cool and we liked it a lot. We also walked around and I didnt feel like we missed out on anything. What I felt was underrated was after a long day in the park being able to sit down and watch the lights with a drink in your hand. As with any Disney party, dont do it for the 'value' of deserts/drinks/gift. There was no way I was eating $90 worth of Mickey Ears. If you value the exclusiveness, separate uncrowded area, and relaxing nature of the area; go for it.

Contemplating this. If I book this and then once the reviews come are negative, can I cancel and get a refund (assuming the cancellation window is a few weeks out)?

TIA

This is what I'm banking on. I think it's just like any other pre-paid reservation, like Cinderella's Royal Table or Hoop Dee Doo Review. Double check the fine print but I think the cancellation window is 24 hours out.

Seems way too expensive to me. Also, I'm wondering about the blanket. Would my group of 3 take home 3 blankets? For the dinner version in January you get a shadow box. I wouldn't really want 3 shadow boxes so is there an alternative?

cancellation policy for this event is 1 day, meaning you can cancel the day before and get refunded.

It is booked like any other prepaid dining reservation and has the same cancellation policy. IIRC it was 48 hours like the dinner shows, rather than the 24 for standard ADRs, but you'll want to read the fine print to double check that. Our trip isn't until mid-Dec so I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the specifics because I'll have 5+ weeks from the time the party starts to read early reviews and make a decision well in advance.

Everything I've read says one "keepsake" per guest, so a party of three would get three blankets. I have mixed feelings about that. I'm sure we'll use the blankets and the souvenir does make the price a little easier to swallow, but I'm sort of dreading having to make room in my luggage to tote five new blankets home. Even if they're the light fleece I'm expecting that's going to take a bit of space! At least we're flying Southwest so I won't be cramming it all in carry-ons. :rotfl:

I'm diff going to pass on this one. I just realized $69 for an hour and a half of cupcakes and tea or we can go to MVMCP FOR $74 I think I would rather deal with the crowds walking OLS and save the money for MVMCP

I'm also curious is everyone gets a blanket. I would love to see a picture of it if anyone has one.
Thanks!!

I agree! Pics would be amazing!! I've checked Twitter, Facebook and of course here but nothing yet! lol.....

I just posted my review of the Merry & Bright Dessert Party and it has lots of pics, including one of the blanket that each guest received. I attended the party on the first night it was held, Nov. 6th. Here is the LINK.

Thank you for your review!

I'm a little concerned though about the seating setup. Are there really only large tables with large numbers of seats? I've got the dinner party booked for January and was hoping they'd at least have some smaller tables suited for small parties to sit at.

Thanks for linking to your review. I'm keeping it for us if for anything it will be nice to have a place to grab a chair. You mention you were in about 6:30 or so and that you had to wait to get to the area. Do you think it's worthwhile to head down to the globe area before the lighting begins at 6:00?

I was told when I booked the dessert party that there were no assigned tables and that being a party of 1 I would probably be sharing a table with other people, which was fine with me. The dinner party might be handled differently though. Did they mention anything about the seating when you booked it?

Based on my first night experience, I would say yes. I don't know if they let us in so early on the first night of the event because of the massive crowd out on the street or if they have continued to allow early entry to the party this week. But I would say to give it try. :thumbsup2

I booked it online in the middle of the night because I found out about it late, haha. So I didn't talk to anyone and I don't remember anything about that. I'm going to call now and ask though!

Edit: Okay, just got off of the phone. The CM said that all she had was that it's open seating. So I'm guessing the set up will be like the Dessert Party. I don't suppose you saw any smaller tables available did you?

Does anyone know if they serve beer/wine in addition to the specialty drinks?

No, I was on the lookout for a smaller table since it was just me but everything I saw was the same size round table with four or five chairs around it.

DS and wife went Thursday. They thought it was a neat experience and they got the 3D glasses. But they were disappointed because the souvenir blanket was just plain - no Mickey or writing or picture whatsoever. I treated them to this and was hoping for something cute. Even the Disney Movie Club has a cute Mickey blanket and I thought they'd get something similar.
