Hi. I know they did not have the lights last year, but for those of you who did see them in previous years, can you tell me what to expect in terms of when they are turned on, and how long it usually takes to walk through them. I know they look like a not to be missed thing, but I'm not sure how much of an event they are. Can you wath them turn on and still go see Fantasmic? Any info would be great. Thanks!

I know we saw them after Fantasmic which was a great time because everyone else seemd to be heading out of the park. It took us about a half hour to walk through them.

Didn't they have some sort of 3-D image in the lights in 2002, that you could only see with special glasses? I think 15-30 minutes is sufficient time to see the attraction.

You are handed the glasses as you near the lights.

We saw them for the first time in 2002. I don't remember what day we went, but I think they turned them on at 6pm. Although seeing them turn them on was great, being in the mob of people wasn't. We actually walked as a group. You couldn't stop to look at anything or you would have been ran over! :)

We actually tried to pull over and sit on some steps before the residential street started, but a CM came over and told us we couldn't sit there. I think it was a little behind scene. She was real nice, though. First she asked if we were ok. Then she told us we had to move.

We were so tired from the day, that we couldn't walk around again. Next time, we will plan on waiting until the initial crowd moves on. That way we can take our time. I am planning on about 30-45 minutes to look at everything at a nice pace.

Thanks for the replies so far. I guess seeing them being turned on souinds too crowded. Maybe we'll try to catch them when a lot of people are watching Fantasmic!

We take our time while walking through display and it take's us 40 minutes.:wave2:

I'm kind of thinking that this year, unfortunately, the display will be a little smaller and take less time. I was in The Writer's Stop 2 weeks ago (that little store near the lights) talking to the CM, and I think that's what he said. But at least there WILL be lights this year.

yes, the lights display will be smaller this year. we have always been there when the lights are turned on and have been able to take our time. might depend on which day you go. seems like the weekend would be more crowded. enjoy!!

Are they still on display in January? I'm thinking about a quick trip in early January....as a surprise for the family and would love for them to see it.

Will they let you walk through them after fantasmic...if the park is officially closed? I know alot of times for instance, the park closed at 7, and that is what time fantasmic is shown.
Thanks!

according to deb's site the lights will be up through january 2, 2005. as far as being able to see them after fantasmic, not really sure. enjoy!

If you arrive on January 3, though, hustle on over there just in case. I remember a few years ago, before I ever saw the Osborne lights, arriving in WDW the day after the advertised last day. That evening, I happened to meet a couple who had just come from seeing the Osborne Lights.

In 2001 & 2002, they had Fantasmic at 6:00 to facilitate people seeing the lights after.

Alot of the time they do keep the lights open until 8. I've done it years before and they are still letting people to go over to residential street to see them while the park cleared.
