Does any one know if they are having the Osbourne Lights back up this year?? We really enjoyed them 2 years ago when we were there over THanksgiving and we are REALLY hoping they are back up this year!! Any info on that yet??

Nothing has been confirmed, but I would say definately not. The reason the Osborne lights weren't up last year is b/c of the new stunt show and closure of Residential Street. The stunt show isnt supposed to open until 2005, so I doubt the Osborne lights will be up this year at all.

The Osborne lights are supposed to be up again this year. According to Disney, they're being moved to a different part of the park. I'm also waiting for the official confirmation.

what is an Osborne light?????

its basically an area in mgm that is filled with christmas lights used in creative ways

An Arkansas businessman had a huge Christmas light display at his home. His neighbors complained and he had to quit displaying them at his home. So he allowed Disney to use them! I forget how many lights it is, but it is absolutely breathtaking.

I am SOOOO keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!! I know that residental street is basically gone, and thats where most of the lights were, but you think with the New York section being opened back up that they could decorate all of that! There really isnt anything back there anyway. THat would be a great spot for all the lights!!! All down New York Street, around Washington Square, then all the way back around to where Al's Toy Barn is. I think they could even add part of where the back lot tour is too!! This can work!! I really want to see this again:hyper:

Except that there is no Washington Square, most of New York Street is under reconstruction, and there are walls everywhere. There is no way they are going to string up 4-5 million lights in a construction zone, and then allow tens of thousands of people to enter into a dead-end street. I don't believe they will display the lights this year.

There is a post on another web site that indicates that the Osborne Lights will not be returning to Disney-MGM until December 2005. Evidently there is going to be a San Francisco area added to the backlot and this will not be completed in time for the lights to be installed for 2004.

Anyone else heard that this is accurate?

We went for Xmas last year and we were so disappointed that we didn't get to see it. I was hoping it would be back up this year. I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed too!

The Osbourne lights are still in the planning stages, but all indications are that they WILL be up again this year. However, as there is no longer a Residential Street, the FORM that they take may be very different. They are likely to be spread out over more space at the Studios, and it's likely that some of the bigger "set pieces" will either be re-worked or replaced. But the plan is for the lights to be back.
