Osbourne lights furious

I am furious about the Osbourne Light display being dimmed for this Christmas. I just love this display, and enjoy going over to MGM almost every evening from BW to see it.

I had planned to bring family to WDW for Christmas, and was telling them how great the lights were. I have never seen anything so "Christmasy", and will be disappointed to not see them. It was so great to get cocoa and watch dd jump in the snow bubbles coming down. I just loved the atmosphere.

What else is there to do that is as Christmasy as the lights? Why weren't the plans for new attraction set to start after the lights this year? I wish I would have known earlier.

well they want to have the new attraction done for the 2005 season (which normaly starts aound Oct the year before, so they more then likely need more then a year to get it built and done right. I personaly wouldnt want them to do a rush job with the new attraction and do a bad job with it.

I too am not happy about this as this is our DCherubs surprise Christmas gift-from 12/26 until 1/5. Only missing 1 day of school and it is the first trip with crowds-terrified is putting it mildly! They did have a chance to see it once before and I got some great pics but this is the reason we are going at this time of year. I know that they have to update and fix and modernize and do what ever they do sometime, so I guess we don't have a choice but to go back again-lol.

What's not "Christmasy" at WDW during that time? Walking down Main Street in the MK with the Christmas music, all around World Showcase seeing the different Christmas cultures, The Candlelight Processional (reading the Christmas Story from the Bible, how much Christmassier can you get?) We've been going for years...much longer than the Osbourne light have been up and managed just fine. Tho if you keep feeling "furious", nothing will seem Christmasy.

As a fellow Christmas Light Display looking nut, I can certainly understand your disappointment. I planned the trip during December instead of in February, when it would have been easier to arrange the finances to cover everything, just to see the Osborne Lights. I wish they had announced this months ago, I was willing to wait for February.

But, with that said, I am getting to be an original guest of Pop Century. I am getting to go to MVMCP. And, I am hoping to do a fireworks cruise and do Candlelite Processional. I'm sure it will be a magical event, as usual. So, my week won't be wasted, but it will be missing about 3 million tiny little pieces of pixie dust. Mickey

We really enjoyed EPCOT at night when the decorations were up. It is very beautiful. Actually, everything is beautiful at Disney when the decorations go up. I can't wait until we go next year to see them! You'll have a blast despite the Osborne lights not being up.

Two words: Wilderness Lodge

DO NOT miss it!

Thank you all so much for the replies. I absolutely love that part of Christmas. I have so many troubles to escape at home during the holidays, it is just a big part of the magic for me. I usually cry every time I see the lights. Anyway, since DF and his wife will be joining us this year, I really wanted them to see the lights. I forgot about illuminations cruises. Maybe I will try to book one. How far in advance can I book? Unfortunately, we will be going to WDW after the last MVMCP, so that is not an option. Did it last year, and loved it. Oh well.

It will be great anyway, but I will sure be disappointed.
