I have never been at Christmas time yet and wanted to know if the Osbourne lights are actaully in MGM? When do the put up the lights? Is this a must see? Thanks in advance. :goodvibes

They are located on the Streets Of America Set in MGM. They officially are Lit up starting on Nov 13 this year. I'm hoping for an earlier priview since I am attending MVMCP that night. That weekend is Super Soap Weekend so I it expect it to be really crowded those nights if they are unofficially lit. They actually begin putting them up months before. I was there the first week of September & a lot of them were on the buildings already. It takes a very long time for them to get them all up.

Yes, when we were there in August we noticed them on some of the buildings. It is definitely a must see. I Have to admit, when we were planning our December trip last year and I read about them, I thought okay, I guess it would be kind of neat to see a bunch of Christmas lights in Disney. But, when you first walk onto the street and are surrounded by thousands of lights and displays and Christmas music and "snow", it is really breathtaking. We enjoyed them so much. Have a great time!

It's true. It's wierd, It's awsome.

It's weird because you literally walk in and are THROWN into the Christmas spirit. It's just crazy.

It is truly amazing. There are more lights than you can imagine. In fact, the entire street is lit up by the Christmas lights. Then, the snow is falling down and they are playing great Christmas classics.

It's a wonderful experience. The only thing that would be better is to set up a stage and have a Christmas concert each night.

An absolute must see!!! DW and I see them every Christmas Eve (great way to start the holiday!!). It is spectacular, moving, just downright festive.

Although I do admit I liked it better when they did up the old residential street - You walked through the neighborhood - I thought it made it more 'homey'.

I would say it's a must-do. At least once. Be sure to get there before they throw the switch! It's fun to watch them all come on a once! The snow is neat too!

For sure a must-see! It's hard to imagine why it's so great, but the amount of lights and just plain old Christmas atmosphere is shocking! :thumbsup2

i havn't really thought about it till now...what is now decorated. im going again this december the last time i was there in decmeber must have been like 10 years ago at least so im super excited and now a little concerned that i won't be as impressed. its ok though i really hope that my dbf enjoys the holiday time in disney (dec 17-22). he dosn't get excited easily at all but he does love the christmas time and stuff so im hoping him never seeing it before it will be super impressive. but anyway...just wondering what exactly is decorated these days. :thanks:

We used to go this time of year to see the Osbourne family lights. It is a must!!! One trip, our family was trying to catch the snow flakes and others started joining in. We were all laughing and playing. I said, "It is still the little things that make us happy." Make sure that you don't miss it.

Well, residential street isn't there anymore (that's where Lights Motors Action Stunt Show is located), so it's a more 'urban' than 'suburban' display, on all of the buildings in what used to be called New York street, now known as Streets of America because they added more backdrops of other cities on various directions. Still very impressive!

When we were there last, it was mobbed later in the evening. You might want to go fairly soon after dark to see if you can avoid the bigger crowds that seem to come later.

I'm with you! I'm attending MVMCP that night too. I also wanted to desperately see Osbourne of lights. Since this is my last night, it's my only chance! I am seriiously thinking of going to MGM for the first of the holiday season the Holly- Day parade, then see osbourne Festival of Lights and the nhead over to MK for MVMCP.

How do you find out if the park is doing a preview of the lights? Please if you find out ....will you let me know?

Thank you

I'm so looking forward to seeing this. Thanks to all of you for making me aware of just how much of a must see that it is!! :goodvibes

Some one said in another post a few weeks ago that they usually have them on the week before they officially open. The past few years there was a pin event schedule the week before that included viewing of the lights and the also had passholder priviews befor officially opening them. There is no pin event this year & I haven't seen any mention of a passholder preview either. I'm just hoping there may be one that hasn't been announced yet.

Oh it's definately a must see. It was down in 2003 while the street was being repaired, but when I was back in 2005 I got a chance to see it. I almost cried actually. It was SO stunning!

I agree with everyone---it IS a MUST SEE. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and stroll down the street. It will put you in the Christmas spirit immediately ! :santa:
