For those who have seen these light in the past, how did you feel about the new set up this year?

I liked it - we went twice. The first time was just before Fantasmic started. It seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves. I miss the old residential street, but it was fun to see old favorites in new places. IMHO, it is organized for better "people flow" through the display. The second time, we went to Fantasmic and then walked over to the Lights after the show ended. It was much more crowded, but it felt less crowded than it did in years past - again, I think the flow though the display is better this new way.

Also, with the lights in the new streets, they seemed more intense/concentrated. The pictures here on the DIS are quite good - they do give you a real flavor of the display.

Hope you enjoy (or did enjoy) them. We sure did!

Best wishes -

We saw them once this trip and thought they were good, differnt than before but good. It seemed the people flow of traffic moved a lot better the way they are now than before. We went Thanksgiving night and though there were a lot of people, you could still move freely in the crowd, take photos and go through at your leisure. Other packed years we have been there it has been like a sea of people just moving through, the crowd moved at a certian pace and you could do not stop and do your own thing without being run over or into by others.

Enjoyed these Osborne lights much more than the previous arrangement. Easier to move around instead of being moved by the pack.

I agree with Carol that the traffic flow is much easier this year than before. We also missed the residential street with the Golden Girls house and the "Patriotic" house. And what happened to the special glasses to view the "angels"?

We still enjoyed it alot and I'm hoping it inspired DH to get our lights up soon!

We saw the new "Osborne Lights" last week & really liked it. We had seen the Residential Street Osborne Lights several years in a row & thought they were good. This year they are set up differently, so it was fun to go throught the area. We did miss looking for & seeing hidden Mickeys. A CM told us to look for hidden Stitches, but no one in our group is a big Stitch fan ... oh well ...

Now see I didnt like the way they have it set up now at all. I felt like I was herding cattle and was being pushed through it. We didnt get to slow down and really enjoy them till we got to the back in the city square area. We also had to wait about 20 min in line to even get to them in the first place.

I went to see the on Saturday night and was very disappointed. I thought the whole set up was a nightmare. The lights themselves, I thought were much more creative on residential street, and I missed the 3D glasses. The line was so long, we waiting at Min and Bills Dockside diner and I too felt like cattle being hearded.

How does the viewing work? Do you enter in one area and exit through another? And where might the entrances and exits be?
When is best to go...right after they are lit, or later, or during Fantasmic?
Thanks!!

I was there this past saturday as well, so I would say avoid Friday or Saturday if possible. You enter through the street infront of ABC Commisarry. You come in on left side of the Building images, the road is split in half with a barricade. It goes down to the town square. Over towards where the old Hunchback Stage was, and then back up towards the main Street. And you exit next to Star Tours.

I dont know when to tell you to view, cause its only open for 2 hours. It was packed when we got there (630) and it was packed when we left (7:45)

I saw them last night. I liked the old way better. The old way kind of had a "neighborhood feel".

We saw it 3 times while we were there. I definately missed the glasses and the residential street. At the end there is a city residential area where there are houses like there would be in a city that at least gave you the feel of seing houses lit up. It definately felt more open now, but I really missed the way it was before. The first time we saw it on Saturday after Thanksgiving, all the lights were not lit up. By Tuesday, everything was up and complete. It looked much better the last two times I saw it. Saturday, the line was VERY VERY long. On Tuesday the line wasn't bad at all.
Entrance was by SCi Fi/ABC Commissary and exit was next to Star Tours exit.

They were nice this year, but the residential street was probably more true to the Osbourne tradition. The new display lacks the homespun warmth of the residential street. If I had to give it a grade, I'd give it a B.

the day after Thanksgiving and we were disappointed. We much preferred it when it was on residential street. It had a more Christmasy (I know that's not a word) feel. I believe the houses give it dimension and interest - and they were all decorated in different themes. Not much you can do to row houses and cityscapes I guess. I also thought it was too short. The lights use to be our favorite Christmas treat, so we were quite sad about it. I know they are building a new attraction, and the Osbourne lights aside, I think I'll miss residential street. The backstage tour is so ridiculous now - there's nothing to it.

I read two different 'last days' posted for the Osborne Lights. Is it January 2nd or 5th?

Thanks for the responses. I was a bit disappointed this year. I wasn't sure if it was just me and my family. We were there Saturday. When we arrived the line was HUGE. So we decided to go ride the GMR. When we got off, the line was much shorter. But as posted by another post, is was as if we were herded through it. Here's what I missed. I missed the houses all lit up! I missed the hidden Mickeys. (Although now we will have to search for hidden Stitch.) I felt like the lights were scrunched. In the past, they were all spread out over a large area. This year they are all concentrated. We didn't see any carollers (?spelling). People actually pushed and shoved us through, so we didn't have a chance to stop, take pictures and enjoy. I will try to go on a weeknight and see if that makes a difference. My ds(10) made a statement as we left, it's kinda was how I felt too. He said that he sure hopes the stunt show makes this abreviated light show worth it.
