I was speaking to a CM last week while at Disney and he said there is rumor that they will be putting Osborne Lights somewhere at Disney Springs? Anyone else hear anything about that?

CMs know nothing more than we do usually. Osborne lights is done for now. I don't think it goes to Disney Springs because the infrastructure for is was perfect at SoA. They of course also don't charge admission for Disney Springs.

Not sure whether it has legs or not, but I can see the Springs doing some seasonal things to attract people to what is an otherwise high priced pedestrian mall. It's landscaped well, but will need something to draw people there even if it's a loss leader.
If they are to attract and retain storefronts in what is likely a high rent spot, the store owners might expect something to drawn customers in. It's no different than your local mall having Santa or the easter bunny on staff at the appropriate times of year.
Could also use some sort of thrill ride(pay per ride) to keep the kids entertained while Mom and Dad enjoy themselves.

Agreed. The Springs will have nearly doubled in size from a few years ago when this is all done. There are a lot of people, mostly guys though I suppose, that have little to zero interested in shopping at DS. But if they come for the lights or some other special event, they will probably eat there and look in some shops. DHS might have gotten a small bump in attendance due to the lights, but those guests likely would have come there the same number of days whether the lights were there or not. So they were "free" in that sense too.

There are practical as well as financial considerations though. Setting up the lights takes up an extended period of time. I don't think the store owners will be enthusiastic to be shut off from their customers because the lights are being strung...

I don't think it could handle the crowds. With no admission, it would be jammed.

I think it's far more likely that the lights will be gone for 5 years and then they'll return "by popular demand" for the 25th anniversary relaunch. Where they would be, who knows. Probably behind a gate.

*IF* Disney Springs were a consideration, it would not happen this year.

They could also redo Lights of Winter or something wholly new and the Osborne Display may indeed be permanently retired.

I'd pay for the $150 dessert party for this too.

I was curious about desert parties for Wishes and Illuminations - but I've never been so hungry or thirsty to warrant the prices.
I think if you drink and like deserts the illuminations one is probably worth it but wishes doesn't serve alcohol. I bought a BB-8 souvenir cup and a tie fighter popcorn bucket and watched the Star Wars fireworks just fine...

I do drink, but not substantially. I've considered Illuminations for that reason, but I still think I could do better grabbing something at Rose & Crown or elsewhere along the showcase.

Yeah or get a margarita in Mexico, across from that stand is one of my favorite illuminations spots. Sometimes I'll grab the nachos and just sit there and watch.
