Hi, my dd's partner is joining us for part of our holiday, we have booked MVMCP for the Friday 9th december, which starts at 7pm until midnight! I have noticed the Osborne spectacle of lights start on the same night at 6pm, I don't want him to miss out on the Osborne lights but he is going home the next day, do you think we will be able to do both and does it matter if we are a bit late for MVMCP? :santa:

TIA, Debs xxx

You could do both but if the lights are not switched on til 6pm you won't get to the party til well after 7pm. Personally for what the parties cost I always want to make the most out of them so we get there for 4pm when they allow you to enter, the ticket says 7pm but thats when everything starts, everyone has been in for upto 3 hours by then.
Also would it be fully dark at 6pm to get the full effect of the lights?I don't remember, its a few years since we saw them.

You would need a good 15 mins to see the full affect of the lights minimum then you would have to get to MK.

Depends what you want to see and do at the party as to whether I would want to be late.

I sincerely hope that the Friday is the 7th December and not the 9th!!! We fly out to MCO on Friday 7th, I hope!

Such a pity they both start on the 9th, he's already had to cancel mnsshp due to work commitments so he is only there from 2nd Nov (night) and leaves on Saturday the 10th so its right in the middle of both events, trying to think of things that can make it worthwhile for him!

Its difficult. we have decided not to do either party this time. On the 9th we hope to see the castle lit then shoot across to DHS to see Osbourne lights.

Ooopsie, sorry yes did mean November, getting a bit ahead of myself there! :rotfl:

We are lucky to be able to manage to go to both events, just hope things get Christmassy quite soon after Halloween, does anybody know when we would be able to visit the Gingerbread House at the GF, hope we get to see that!

Not seen a date yet, Mousesavers say this:
The biggest edible production is a gingerbread house at Grand Floridian Resort that is large enough that it doubles as a real bake shop. Featuring gingerbread using a classic Austrian recipe, the bake shop offers freshly baked items such as cookies, ornaments and miniature gingerbread houses. Other homemade items for sale may include Stollen Bread, chocolate peppermint bark, lollipops and special Grand Floridian logo boxes filled with truffles. Demonstrations of how to decorate a gingerbread house take place in front of the bake shop six days a week. The gingerbread house usually opens in mid-November.

Cheers for the link as well Wayne, the gingerbread house in Epcot sounds fab, wish we could be there nearer Christmas, only other time we could go would be straight after Christmas, not sure how long the Christmas season lasts but I know new year would be chaos, but then again, grinchmas too! :santa:

Christmas is a great time to visit, all the decs are left up between Xmas and New Year. We have always flown out Xmas Day or Boxing day then returned for new school term. Its just soooo busy but great to see. I wish I could visit early Dec but being in retail I have to work thru to Xmas eve.

I have a folder here from Xmas 2008 with gingerbread pics.

Celebration is a good evening out at Xmas too.

I would probably give them a miss this time and go to the Party a bit earlier thought depends how much he is into lights and Disney are you able to go the day after without him? So then at least your daughter can see it

They have boxes on the trees that produce the "snow" its more like foam but it works for pics.
This was their webpage from last year.

You can see it on Matt's fingers here.
