Osborne Lights lives?? Maybe?

I do wish that Disney would have some kind of Christmas light display. I really loved both the Epcot and DHS displays.

I miss the lights at the entrance to World Showcase at Epcot and now no more Osborne lights either, Christmas at Disney just won't be the same anymore!

It was my favorite also. The Christmas decorations have always made that my favorite time of year to go. I'm saddened by their continued removal of the decorations. :sad2:

My guess is that there will not be OSBORNE lights. I wouldn't be surprised if we do see a light show somewhere on property, designed by one of the winners of the Great Christmas Light Fight. That way they don't have to pay the Osborne family any money. It is part of the "prize" for winning the show.

Did you find it?
No, I didn't. It must have gone out with the recycling a couple of weeks ago. I did find a second brochure they sent a couple of weeks later, also regarding the holiday season, and that one had no mention of the lights.

The Osborne family was never paid any money. This was stated by the family itself in a post a year or so ago.

Also, the Christmas Light Fight show is taped in August, I believe. Speaking from experience, it would be darn hard/imossible for the winner to program/sequence a show in such a short time for Disney.

Elsewhere in this thread, it was reported that the equipment itself has been listed as for sale at the Disney Liquidation center, so it doesn't seem one is being considered for this year.

Jim Hill said this a while back but with the loss of Streets of America where would you put them.

I never knew they taped the shows in August. That's interesting that seems awfully early to be having Christmas stuff in my yard though.

From what I remember, it's a series of three tapings for each display over a period of months. Have you ever noticed during the set-up sequences how green the grass is and lack of heavy winter clothing in northern climates? Each taping shows one aspect, such as the display set-up. One of the members of our local AZ group in the Phoenix area won this past year. It was the contest series where the entire neighborhood/street participated and the entire street was synchronized to music. He had the hot air balloon land and take them up in the balloon for aerial shots.

If you want to see what all is involved in that show, here is an on-line article that explains the process by one of the contestants.
