If MGM states it closes at 8:00 pm on Friday, Dec 15th, does that mean you can't enter the gates after 8:00 pm? We will only be there for 2 nights - the 1st night, we'll be at MVMCP and the 2nd night we have the Candlelight Package with dinner at 5:30 and CP @ 8:15pm. We were hoping to hop over to MGM to see the Osborne Lights after CP, but if they close at 8:00 pm, I guess there's no way. That just seems way too early on a Friday night. Is there's any chance they will let people in later than that just to see the lights?

I don't think they will let you in the park after it closes, my guess is that it depends on the CM at the gate, it might not hurt to try.

No. People can not enter the parks once they are officially closed.

If you have the 8:15 Candlelight Processional, that lasts 45-60 minutes and then you'd have to get over to MGM. You wouldn't be there until 9:30 at least. Way later than the park closes. You'll have to see the Osbourne Lights another time.

I accept defeat that we won't get to see them this year. :sad1:

It just doesn't make sense to me that they would go to all the trouble to put the lights up and only leave the park open for 2 hours after dark. I realize that if we could get there before 8:00, we could stay past 8:00 to see them and that it's expensive to have the park with all the rides and attractions open - it just seems too early on a weekend night - but I guess the demand's just not there.

I just wish we had one more night..... oh well, next year !!!

You could try going before MVMCP -- it doesn't really start until 7 pm. (Part of the MK will be open before 7, but not most of it.)

Great idea - but we're arriving from the airport that afternoon and even if we did get there early enough to go, we'd have to use a day of our park hoppers. Thanks, though!!!

>>> trouble of putting the lights up and the park open for only two hours

Times 40 or so days from Thanksgiving to New Years.

After the Fantasmic show (at the other side of the park) ends and after the turnstiles close and CM's guard the ends of ride queues at 8 or so, people leaving that show are usually allowed to cross over to the Osborne Lights and view them while others are filing out and lining up for the buses back to the resorts.

anne930,

we will only be there for 3 nights from 14-17. we will also be doing the mvmcp on the 14th.

i tried to get ressies for the candle light package on friday but it did not work out, so we will see the osborne lights instead on friday night. i was upset that i could not get in for the candle package to make sure we had a seat, but i know we can not do everything and have one night to ourselves to try jiko.

have a good time! :) i have already peeked at the 10 day report at weather.com. they are saying a 60% chance of showers on thu the 14th :(

can't wait, one week, one day to go! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

I agree completely. by the way, I was not that impressed with the "Dancing" lights. I saw the video online and got excited but, in person it's good but not great like I expected.
