Ornaments

This is our first year as DVC members. I keep reading about ornaments from people's home resorts. How do you get them. Do you have to go home for the Christmas season and go to an event or do they mail them to you? Thanks for the info.

You have to go to one of the Member Merry Mixers on Fridays in Dec. They are just outside Epcot at the International Gateway entrance.

I think the resorts sell ornaments every year. From what I have seen they are pretty generic--a piece of ceramic with an image from the resort along with the name and year. Might be nice to have one but I don't think you would want to collect them every year.

You can call Merchandise Mail Order to buy those, although something that small will be expensive with shipping & handling.

Not sure how long they have been giving them out at the Mixers. Back in '04 we got a keyring.

Sorry, Ed. I misread your post. The ornaments given out for free at the Mixer are generic, not resort specific. Here is a photo of this year's edition:

Going down for the first time as DVC owners this Saturday. We're leaving on Thursday. So Friday's are the only days we're missing on our trip.

We got ours at the Doorway to Dreams in the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. This is a DVC sales location. I think it is the only one not on Disney property.
