Hi, anybody know about this place, they have a rate going at $49 a night....is it a nice hotel, any pros/cons - it looks nice on the site, but wanted some info from anyone who has been there - THANKS:D

I'm checking into Orlando World Gate on Saturday. I called to confirm & ask about the Disney shuttles. They said the shuttle goes to all the disney parks & they recently added a shuttle to universal studios & sea world for free. I am looking forward to my stay here, we are staying 6 nights. I will try to post a review when we return.

I've been seeing this rate on hotelkingdom.com and was very interested but can't decide. It seems this hotel has gone from a Marriott to Renaissance(?) and is now part of the Radisson group if I am correct, so it's been hard trying to get accurate info. I looked on tripadvisor.com and there were mixed reviews either people love it or hate it.

I will look forward to hearing a recent review of the place.

Thanks

We stayed there for two nights last April(Easter week), Good clean rooms, nicle pool, rest. ws closed due to a religiouls group that were staying there and had full use of it. we paid 40 through PL. Would stay there again. Shuttles don't run very often, I think in the AM, returning in the PM, so if you want to return at other times you should have a car.

I would greatly appreciate it if you (or anyone that may already know) could tell me how big the refridgerator is and does it have a freezer. I really need to be able to have a fridge and freezer to freeze bottled water to take w/ us to the parks. Another question I have that may sound silly but the description says that the bathroom has a roman tub. I assume this is a large garden-type tub but is there a shower also? DH is BIG on showers and it would ruin his whole vacation if he couldn't shower every day.

Thanks for all the info!!

Thank you all for replying and THANKS for all the info...can't wait to hear about your trip jackier26 and your stay at the hotel...I to like maximom have been searching on this board and others (Tripadvisor.com) for ANY info on the (Radisson) Orlando Worldgate, I guess by the names switching so much you can't get a hold to any detailed information, but I am NARROWING my list, by each post, because I find out something different everyday here:) (LOVE THIS BOARD):earsgirl: I'm going to mark Orlando Worldgate as 1 of my 5 choices - THANKS:earsgirl:

I stayed here last June when it was Renaissance Worldgate. This is a very nice hotel, with a more adult feel. It is clean, the rooms are nice & nicely decorated. There are two pools that I saw (possibly more?); a smaller, quiet one and a large pool with a hot tub. I had no complaints whatsoever. We missed the first shuttle to the park (our fault) by getting there 2 minutes late--so we knew they ran on time that day for sure! I would recommend having a car because the shuttle does not seem to run a lot during the day, compared to other hotels I have stayed at. Overall, would recommend to anyone--esp. at that price!! Have a great trip.:wave2:

Thanks alliecat, for the info...I am now seriously considering booking this hotel for our WDW stay, it seems really nice for the price....so I think I might go ahead and book this 1...anyone know if booking through hotelkingdom.com is a good idea, has anyone had any problems with them...THANKS AGAIN:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Just came back from a 6 night stay at Orlando WorldGate Hotel formerly the Renassaince Worldgate. Overall, I was very satisfied with the hotel. We had a room with a King bed and the room was big & clean. Our room was on the second floor right next to the elevator....it was a bit noisy with people coming & going but we didn't mind at all. The refrigerator is medium sized...bigger than a refrig you might have in a dorm room, but the freezer section is small. You might be able to stick a bottle of water or two to freeze.

We arrived around 1pm and pre-registered as they didn't have a king bed room available. They locked our bags in the bellman closet and gave us tickets for them. We did not have a rental car and that would prove to be a big nussiance throughout our trip. We walked out to Highway 192 to look in souvenuir shops while we waited. Highway 192 is a busy street with numerous hotels, shops, and restaurants.

We called the hotel about an hour and a half later and they said our room was ready to check in. The bellman brought our bags and we settled into our room.

The shuttle to the disney park would only leave during the morning hours and come back during the evening hours. I believe the schedule went something like this:

Magic Kingdom leave 7:45am & 11:40 am
Epcot leave at 9:40am and 11:40 am
Sea World & Universal leave at 8:40am
**I think a shuttle left to Animal Kingdom around 8:30am but I am not sure.

Pickup MK at 7:15pm, 10:30pm, and sometimes 11:30 pm when parks stay open late.

Pickup Epcot 7:30pm and 9:45pm.

Pickup MGM 7:45pm

Pickup Seaworld and Universal 6:45pm

The shuttle to MK leaves you at the Transportation & Ticket Center where you take the monorail to Magic Kingdom or Epcot or you can hop on a disney bus to go to MGM studios, Animal Kingdom, water parks, or disney resorts.

When they drop you off at Epcot center, you are at Epcot but can take the monorail to Transportation & Ticket Center and then go to transfer to Magic Kingdom.

Orlando Worldgate has a handout of shuttle times that they give you so you know the times and where they will pick you up.

The thing they don't tell you is that after you are picked up at the hotel, they go to several other hotels and load the bus up with people. It is very time consuming and they people at the last hotels ended up standing. Since Orlando Worldgate is the first pickup we always had a seat. They same dela when they drop you off, they drop off at many hotels, sop make sure you tell the bus driver to drop you off at Orlando WorldGate.

The shuttles were sometimes frustrationg & I wish we had a car to go to the parks later or go to pleasure island. We took a cab a few times which cost us $14-15 from Ticket and Transportation Center to Orlando Worlgate.

Our hotel stay was nice. We ate in the hotel restaurant one time for lunch and the food was nothing special but good. We went to the restaurant bar a few times. They have a little food court type place where you can get pizza, sandwiches, and icecream. There is small arcade & a little convenience store.

We went to both pools while we stayed. There was a smaller ppol right bar our room, but it wasn't as big or deep and had no hot tub, so then we went to the main pool. Was very nice, heated, and towels provided.

The bathroom was very nice, big bath tub which does include a shower was well.

We booked through hotel kingdom for $49.50 a night and had no problems.

I would recommend this hotel & would definetly stay again but with a rental car. They do have an Avis rental Car booth inside the hotel with about 10 Avis cars outside. We were both under 25 and didn't want to pay to pay the outrageous fees.

:D :D :D

Thank you SOOOO MUCH, for the report..I'm gald that you all had a nice time..I think you sealed our deal with Orlando Worldgate...THANKS AGAIN:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Thank you so much for the report on OWG we will stay there one night and now i can relax about the lack of info i found about these rooms!

cant wait to get there!:Pinkbounc

We stayed there over Presidents Day with a Priceline deal of $40. It was well worth the price we paid. Nice, clean hotel ~ nothing too fancy.

I just wanted to add that if you have a car, stop by and ask the front desk for shortcut directions to the parks. If you make a right on 192 away from the parks, there is a side street on the right that takes you back by the AKL ~ its much shorter and NO TRAFFIC! We were at any park in minutes!

Please let me know if you need any details ~ we stayed there for 5 nights, so I might be able to help.
