I am trying to plan a spring break vacation to Orlando. At first I thought we would go to WDW. However now I am looking into Universal/IOA and SeaWorld. My children are the following ages. , DS = 15, DS =13, DS= 9 and DD =7. We have not been to Orlando before. And this is the first and probably only big trip to Orlando.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be standing in lines every day of vacation. We will probably be there for 5-6 days. Looking at staying offsite.. Thankyou in advance!!

Can you be a little more specific with what you are asking? That will help you get better responces.

As far as the standing in lines part, spring break is often more crowded than the summer. Discounts on rooms are much harder to come by at that time of year also.

Since you are willing to stay offsite, and with a family of 6 I suggest you look into renting a vacation home. You'll get a lot for your money. You can rent a fully-furnished 3 bedroom home with a private pool for what most hotel rooms will go for.

I would definitely try to experience Disney and Universal. They are both great vacation destinations and if you are not sure when you will be back, you may want to try and squeeze in both.

Hope that helps and have a great trip!

to be more specific about what I am asking. We are undecided as if we should just do WDW or just Universal/IOA/ Sea World. And if we try to fit in both are there any suggestions on what would be a realistic itinerary for the week.. Our spring break is the end of March, not near Easter.. Will that help with the crowds.
Thanks

Walt Disney World is more of a youthful, kid-friendly place. Some rides featuring some of the most beloved characters in Disney classics.

The rides are for the most part tame...no real thrills, but the place is really fun to look at and you may get to meet The Mouse. ;)

But basing on your kids' ages, I say go to Sea World/IOA/Universal Studios.

Universal and IOA have a more "cool" atmosphere, and there is something to do for all ages. Kids can enjoy Dr. Suess Land in IOA, and a kids-only play area in US. The teenagers will enjoy the rollercoasters at IOA, as well as the simulators that aren't as "tame" as Disney. If your teenagers like thrill, they'll absolutely love IOA and US too.

As parents, you'll enjoy many of these rides as well.

So, for the ages going, I recommend US/IOA/Sea World (haven't been to Sea World in ages, so I don't remember it too well...I've heard they got a rollercoaster there now, but it's been about 10 years since I've been and haven't tried it).

I can tell you more, if you'd like. Just send me a message. :)

Your older kids will probably like Universal more. Here is what I would do:

By 6 days I am going to assume you mean 6 full days (get up and go to sleep in Orlando days) with two extra travel days on the end.

Day 1:AK
Day 2:Epcot
Day 3:MGM
Day 4:MK
Day 5:USF
Day 6:IOA

AK at WDW could be done in a half day if needed (say, on the day you arrive or on the day you leave). I would go to WDW first, though. Your older kids might not want to go after having been to Universal already. Besdies, I like my vacations to build in excitement and end on a bang :D
