Orlando to Atlanta

:lmao: I know it's wrong, but when I'm heading to WDW, I am like Mr. Sulu on the Starship Enterprise. Maximum warp.

:rotfl:I drive from the Triad, too - and the best I've ever done was 9 hours and 15 minutes. That was with ONE stop in the middle, going 85 all the way once I reached I95, and leaving at 4pm so I was on I95 at night with little or no traffic most of the way. If you are doing it in 9 on a normal day you are breaking the sound barrier!!

I would plan on at least 7 hours to Atlanta. It is more than an hour to Ellijay from the city too. Best route I think is I-75N to I-575N

If you are going to Ellijay it will take you about 8.5 hours. Ellijay is in the middle of nowhere and it's a two lane road from either 75 or GA400. If you like small town life you may enjoy it. As for me I would go nuts spending a week there.

While I doubt I could live like that permanently, we are looking forward to 10 days of relaxing, hiking, biking, tubing and hanging out. Our oldest is booked up the rest of the summer between camps, activities and drivers training classes so this will be a great way to connect before chaos strikes. I prefer a major city but I think we need this right now.

Thanks! So do you like the N. GA mountain area? We have never been and are just looking for a place to hang out with family, hike and relax. The area sounds pretty.

My parents retired there, and yes, it is very pretty. They live in Big Canoe, which is in the Tate/Jasper vicinity. They can see Amacolola Falls off in the distance from their house.

There is a lot to do in the mtns- Dawsonville, Dahlonega, and Helen all have fun festivals at different times of the year. The apple farms and pumpkin farms are wonderful in the Fall. There is a really cool "Hike Inn" near Amacolola Falls that is fun to stay at.

You will enjoy the Ellijay area.

NEW ‘SUPER SPEEDER LAW’ STARTS NEW YEAR WITH NEW FINES

(JANUARY 1, 2010) Georgia drivers should mark that date on their calendars and put a sticky note next to their keys.. January 1st, 2010. It’s the day the new state ‘Super Speeder Law’ goes into effect in Georgia. And any high-risk drivers who make a habit of ignoring posted speed limits will be the first to feel the pinch of higher state fines (called fees) on their wallets.

How much higher? The new law titled HB160 tacks-on another two-hundred-dollar state-fee for any driver convicted of speeding at 75-or-more on any two-lane roads.. OR convicted of speeding at 85-and-over anywhere in Georgia. Those new state fees will be in addition to any local fines already in effect in the jurisdiction where the speeding offense occurs.

Every single person in Atlanta would be UNDER a jail cell if they paid more attention to speeders and dangerous drivers instead of making sure there is more than one person per car in the HOV lane!
