Orlando Smackdown: Dis vs. Uni. Ch.16 Japan Hates me, Just Hates me 7-13

And Nebo, you knew I wouldn't forget you or the latest chapter. Tinkerbuzz had her four month well visit last week and she got four shots which turned her into a gremlin baby for a few days. She was just a little cranky and a lot clingy so while I read your Captain's Grille chapter I haven't had a chance to post as my hands haven't been free. Whew, trust me this was no "the dog ate my homework" story.

I agree with you and Smidgy on your experience with the Captain. We have eaten there a few times, four, to be precise. Two dinners, one lunch, and one breakfast. The recurring theme for all visits was the relative snail-like pace of the meal. The food was pretty good and actually the cheeseburger at lunch was very good. I don't think we will the venturing back anytime soon though, as the last time we were there for almost three hours! :scared1:

I owe you some additional responses but it's curfew time so they will have to wait until tomorrow.

And now, I'm going to resume singing "White Wedding"....."Hey little Sister..." ;)

for the first time [/B]by then![/B]
. [/B]

what do you mean, dear, by divorced "for the first time"?!!?
are you planning on a 2nd time??

(and no, I'm not talking to myself. he posted under MY name!)

harrumph!!!!:rotfl2:

Poor Captain's Grille (note trailing "E", the former GM took great pride in the "E" as his personal stamp) cant catch a break. It's one of those places that hardly anyone makes reservations for, yet they can get hit hard if there is a convention that has no planned meals. So staffing is like Hail Mary mostly.

Can I place special orders here? really? I would love Adler Edelcreme krauter cheese!

So, Buzz was having a run of the mill Monday. Notice I say "was" having a run of the mill Monday. All of that changed with a simple, customary stop at the mailbox. And at least one person other than myself knows where I am going with all this. ;)

Who? Oh, this should be good.

Yes, there was a requisite junk mail catalog

and, apparently, junk food.

And no juvenile humor Nebo, I took a picture so you could see the inside peanut butter, caramel goodness.

Actually, I'm a little (maybe a lot) surprised that you got yours before Nebo and Smidgy did. They're a lot closer. :confused3

Pkondz, you sir are my favorite Canadian and I'm pretty sure my favorite person for the month of March! ;)

And yes, they were Fra-gee-lay!! ;)

 I was hoping someone would spot that.

Thanks so much Pkondz for the treat! I have been dying for a Wunderbar for a long time!

You're very welcome. :goodvibes

I have posted on your report before. My very first post was either this one or the trip report before it. You would think with such a low post count I could remember but I've read all previous TR's and feel like I have been along for the ride each time. :drive:

I was going to say something snarky about how you didn't remember my first time posting (which you made a funny little comment about at the time) but hey, since I can't remember when it was either?? It must not have been that great, huh? hehe :rotfl:

Oh, c'mon, say something snarky anyway,,, that's what we do here.

Yes, there was a requisite junk mail catalog and a bill, but tucked in the very back of the box was a package. I looked at the label and yes my friends, the angels started singing. And I am going to show you what made the angels start singing rather than just tell you.

And this is what it looked like about two seconds before I had one for lunch. Yes, it wasn't the most well balanced meal, but boy was it yummy!!! And no juvenile humor Nebo, I took a picture so you could see the inside peanut butter, caramel goodness.

I did share some with DH so I was magnanimous with at least the first bar. Who knows where the remaining Wunderbar treasures might be? I certainly wouldn't know anything about where they might be hidden.

Sorry for the extra large pics, but I'm short on time as I need to write one my post before Nebo imposes my curfew.

Great post Dee Dee,,, the middle of Reese's cups and 3 Musketeers make great pictures too.

3 hours? I'd be climbing the walls by then.

And that's the only song I can think of by Billy "American" Idol.

We have the Adler Planetarium here in Chicago,, does that count?

Actually, I'm a little (maybe a lot) surprised that you got yours before Nebo and Smidgy did. They're a lot closer. :confused3

Huh? You sent them to us as well? Hmm,,, maybe,, you need to resend them, and just to make sure,, I'd keep resending them every two days,, you know,,,to make sure we get one.

Ok, ok,,, I pulled them out of the mailbox this morning,, I've just been lax in getting the mail,,I'm of the "no news is good news" type. But I havent tried them yet. They are both for me, right? Or am I expected to share with Smidgy?

Thanks Ponz,,,appreciate the trouble you went to.

 I was hoping someone would spot that.

You're very welcome. :goodvibes

Please note the second product review...

Wasn't sure what you meant at first, untill I read closer.
Yeah,,, she's not TOO German, is she?:rotfl:

How about Rebel Yell, Dancing with Myself, Mony Mony.

Huh? You sent them to us as well? Hmm,,, maybe,, you need to resend them, and just to make sure,, I'd keep resending them every two days,, you know,,,to make sure we get one.

I would, but border services are starting to look at me funny.

Yes you have to share with Smidgy. Be nice.

Thanks Ponz,,,appreciate the trouble you went to.

Seriously. My pleasure.

Okay, in all fairness to Captain's Grille, it is true that on the night of the infamous three hour dinner there was a large group of people seated in the center of the room. It seemed like they were a large family grand gathering.

The "hidden gems" do tend to get hit at the last minute by large parties with no ADR, but needing somewhere to eat together. I have seen this at Boatwrights and at Olivia's as well.

The food that I have had at Captain's Grille has been good. The kids really like a brownie kabob dessert they have on the kids menu. I believe I have tried their New York strip with cheddar bacon mashed potatoes, a roasted chicken breast, a cheeseburger, and I believe the standard scrambled egg breakfast.

Part of my error was going to dine at Captain's Grille on the night of HS EMH. That was our plan on the night of the three hour dinner marathon, and it didn't go quite as I had anticipated. :sad2:

Friday was an extra magic hour evening at Epcot,,, one of my favorite times. It was also a lunch in the basement, with an early performance of people walking around with fire sticks and trying to NOT set the person ablaze in front of them,, and also trying to not faint while standing immobile for a long stretch of time.

Yes,, lunch was at Le Cellier,,, and we got the Candlelight Processional, first showing tonight.

On arrival to Epcot,,t he first thing we checked on was if there might be a "soft" opening for the new Test Track,,, but alas and alack,,, no luck there. Lunch is at 11:30,, so we are basically just killing time in Future World till then.

Rode Soarin',, apostrophe,,,,, ah shuddup. Livin' with the land,, Apostrophe,,,gonna hurt somebody.

Walked around Comminiventions. Even rode the moronically stupid and waste of your life's time ride,, Journey into your Imagination,,, hoping that somehow,, either the ride got better,,, or our brains got more understanding,,, but again,, alas and alack,,, no such luck.

Our hopefullness was just a figment.
And no,,, that wasn't supposed to be funny either!

We then wandered into World Showcase and strolled around the gardens in Canada.
Very pretty.

But I think this is where Disney really pulls the wool over your eyes,,everybody knows that you can't grow actual flowers way up by there,,, they had to be plastic.

Then we watched the Martin Short Show,,, which is pretty good,,, providing that you keep your tongeu firmly pressed against your cheek,,, as he also tries to show you pictures of plastic flowers and such in the Canada Movie Show

Hmm,, I should have a pic or two here, shouldn't I?

100_2303.jpg

I am pretty sure that is the Canada garden party,,, just don't tell Ricky Nelson. Well,, I guess that doesn't matter a whole heck of a lot either now, does it?

IMG]http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/nebo100/UniandCbr/100_2304.jpg[/IMG]

Now,, I just blew up this next picture to see what it was that I was looking at,,, and really,, the best I can tell you...

It's either from the Candlelight Processionaly later that day,,,

or it's from all the patrons sitting at their tables trying to read the menus at Le Cellier, using any forms of lighting that they can muster up.

I'm going with the latter. :lmao:

At Le Cellier,, which we have eaten at Many a time,,, to me it was "dinner as usual" meaning,, Goooood... But to Diane,, it was less than impressive to her this time. Not sure why.

Yes,, had better Fillets in the past here,,, but it was still a whole heck of a bunch better than if I tried to make it on the grill,,, and love the garlic mashed potatoes,, and the breadsticks. We had to pay extra for the appetizer, that we just weren't going to go without,,, the Cheddar Cheese soup has always been an integral part of our dining there, and it was today.

But today,,, it seemed like they were trying to overdo it,,, it just seemed to Rich,,, and after just checking out the online menu,, at 7.50 a bowl for soup,,,, yeah,, you have to be Richie Rich, to order it now.

But, one thing you don't want to miss is/are, the Voices of Liberty at the American Pavillion. An a Capella choir group that are/is, just outstanding, really,, not kidding.

And during this holiday period it's mostly real Christmas type songs, yes,, we are talking chills down the back.
I normally hate chills,, but I had to hold up my arm and show Diane,,,"Hey,, Look!" And she was incredulous; " Wow, you have hair on your arms,,, who knew"?

Yeup,,,, everybody's a comedian.

Ok, as for the Candlelight Processional,,, well,,, it w was good.
Smidgy liked it more than I did,, pretty much like last time we did it.
We had much better seats this time though,, pretty much dead center front and back,,, and left and right.

Our main host/speaker/ celebrity for the evening is Edna Mae. Do I have that right?
Ok,,, I mean,, Whoopie Goldberg.

And she was good,,, played it mostly straight, and following the usual type of Disney tradition,, turned a Christian account of history into a non religeious/ethinic, holiday nightime gospel type story for all to enjoy.

Oh,,, gotta look for more pics, don't I?

100_2307.jpg

100_2309.jpg

100_2311.jpg

100_2312.jpg

And there you pretty much have it.

Whoopsy,,, how did a Morrocan belly dancer get in the Processional?
No WONDER everybody suddenly stood up and cheered in the middle of Silent Night!

(Do you see what I see?)

Again,, Smidgy likes it more than I,, but what was really strange during the performance,, was a single girl/woman, sat down on the end of the bench next to me,,, yes,, I guess I leff a little too much room. She looked a couple years younger than me,,,, but what was even weirder,,, was she also looked familiar!

You see, I was staying at a guy's house that I barely knew when we broke up back in '99,,, and that was when I first got on line.
And when I first started a scary series of Internet dating.

And I swear,, this woman sitting next to me now, was the very first person I ever met from talkiing to people on the internet. That in itself was a short termed riot; we met at a restaurant in a mall, between her and me,,, around lunch time; I had a hard time recognizing her because her pics were all ten years older,,, and she said,,, "Hi Nevo,,, well,, gotta go,, have to go get my mom from Kohl's,, but it was nice meeting you. "

Never saw her again.

yes,, I have that effect on women. :joker:

Now, I'd have to try to get by with,,,,
boy,, if Smidgy left me now,,, I'm DOOOMED!

See? This is what happens when I don't have anything!

But what was strange about this woman was that she spent most of the whole show watching Harry Potter on her I'Pad, or whatever it was. And at the end when the entire audience stood for the Hallalueja Chorus,,,, nope not her,,, she just sat there and stared straight ahead,, as if daring someone to say something.

When the show was over, we got a couple of beers and made it over to England to hear the Brittish Revolution. But before they came out,,, there was a storyteller doing his shtick first.

100_2315.jpg

Then the band came out:

100_2316.jpg

What I like about them is that they do a lot more than just Beatles stuff,, and they do it well too.

Illuminations didn't start until 9:30 for the holidays,,,b ut man,,, what a show it was,,, with the special Holiday "Tag" at the end,,,, absolutely breathtaking! From then on we just kind of muddled around for a bit,,, did Spaceship Earth,,, Nemo,,,I remember wanting to do the roal reef exhibits,,,, but they were turning off the lights in a lot of the tanks,,,,,,,so nothing to see here,, move on.

And so we left.

The Illuminations at holiday time is really uplifting for me, and I"m not exaggerating. But I still get forlorn when
I think of what's not there anymore,,, which is
The Lights of Winter. That always was so cool to me,,, the lit up archway down the main path to World Showcase,,,with the big Epcot tree in the background.
It's been gone a few years now,, Disney's official line is that today's technology can't support it anymore,,, whatever that means.

Ok,,, we are done here again,,, menyana

Nebo, I'm really feelin' your post. I just read o'er the entire thing. Don' you know you are hilarious? I can' imagine a better account of Epcot durin' the holiday season.

Thinkin' of goin' durin' the holiday season this year again.

More later when I can breathe without laughin'! ;)

nebo was also under the impression he dated the belly dancer, too.:rotfl: I just nod my head "sure, honey" ;).

actually, I think they threw the belly dancerinto the Christmas story so those of the Muslim faith don't feel left out. oops, time for another;) (feeling snarky, I guess:)).

oh, and honey, it's ODA mae!

I'll add more later about my "take" on Le Cellier. till then, great chapter sweetie!

OH! and thnaks ponzie, for the wonderbars!!! I can't wait ti try it! yum!(and I did notice f r a g i l e ):lmao:

Great update Nebo. I love holiday Illuminations too and have never seen th Candlelight Processional. I guess 2014 might have to be another Christmas trip. So much Disney to see and do and never enough money or vacation time to do it. Thank goodness for trip reports so I can live vicariously through them.

Nebo, you do know that the candles aren't real in the Processional right?

Ponzi-----puppy pic please!
Oh, and my wunderbars haven't come either. :hyper:

Great chapter Nebo. Did you guys get to LeCell before it went to 2 credits for lunch? I don't know when we'll try it now that it's officially a signature. Too many places we'd rather try for 2 credits.

I'm so jealous of your many holiday trips. I've got to see all of the special holiday things!

If you ever have to go back to online dating maybe Ponzi could help you with your picture? I'm sure he'd come up with something great. ;)

I'm guessing this was supposed to be a picture.

I fixed the link so we can all enjoy it.
100_2304.jpg

And I'm glad I did. What a lovely picture of Smidgy. The scenery is nice to.
