I had requested and received a magicard back in Feb. It came attached to a pamphlet that gave you all the details of where the card is good for. Believe it or not, there was a line that said "all offers expire Feb 28,2004". That was on the pamplet, not the card. There seemed to be no expiration on the card. Now my question is, does that card expire or just the offers that are good with it? I'm hoping the offers just change and the card remains the same. It's just a white Orlando magicard. Any ideas?

Just the offers.

Over the winter I tried to use the card for one of the hotel offers for a May reservation. They told me that the Magic Card offers did not extend that far. I asked if the card would be continued, but at that point they were unsure. I've asked for a new card, but never received it.

I ordered the Orlando Magic Card back in January. A friend of mine ordered one at the same time. His came first and he had the brochures that all expired February 29, 2004. Mine came a few weeks later but didn't come with those brochures.

I called Embassy Suites - LBV to get a quote on 2 rooms in November. They quoted me the $119 rate that the magic card states. When I talked to my friend and we agreed that was the place we would stay with our families, I called back to reserve a room. It was a matter of a few days. They told me the $119 rate was sold out and the new rate was $129.99. I told them I had the card and had called a few days earlier and was quoted the $119 rate. She said "then you should have booked it then". I called my AAA travel agent and she was able to book the same rooms for the $119 price. So, I didn't get any benefit of having the card. We may be able to save on any dinner shows we choose to attend, that is about it.

Not sure how the other hotels are looking at this point. I'd call the one you are interested in and then if you are a AAA member, compare prices.

I think the way it works is that your card is always "good" and that you keep it to show but they have new discounts about 4 times a year. You used to be able to go to the web site and order a new brochure to be sent to you with the latest discounts.

It has been awhile since I have pulled out that card but that is the way it used to work.

I think that is a very good idea to check around and find the best price or the price you can live with and then ask someone else, the hotel or AAA, to match it. I would think they would all be willing to match a competitor's rate.

Actually, you might do better on the dinner shows through www.ticketmania.com, their prices are very good.

Have used the card a few times and it is what it is. A free card with many offers that you need to be sure of before you take advantage. That being said it worked great for restaurants that we happened to visit. If you go to the web site then you will get the most updated version. We checked with one of the retailers to ask how it worked and they said it was an agreement but I think they said that (at least this particular person) looked at it as freee advertising. We have used it in conjuction with other discount books and I would not recommend that it be your only means of discount but it certainly is worth checking out. We saved 60.00 in two visits to the Samba room and also at Hard Rock (do not remember how much)BUT for a free card used at places we planned to go and had no discount it was very good.

I'm using mine for rooms at the Grosvenor in June. I've stayed here 3 or 4 times and it's my son's favorite hotel. He likes it because it's an easy walk to Downtown Disney. Anyway, I needed two rooms and I was able to book them at the $59/nite rate. With the resort fee it's still less than the code rate at the All Stars and we get a refrigerator. I think the rooms are slightly larger also. I'd been searching for deals at Downtown Disney hotels so this works out great for me.
